I doubt the V8 diesel in that w220 would fit very well in a w140. There is no
way it would fit a 201. Not even a 202. If you gutted a w124, it might squeeze
in.

To bypass the need for moderation and approval, I just put the stuff on BW.
Show and shine had a visitor from the great white north who brought a w220 400
diesel. Almost got a stirring in the loin, but being a w220 was enough cold
water to temper the desire.
For those predisposed to gory pics, here's one of the right side of the block
showing where the #5 broken rod knocked a hole in the block. The broken rod
did the same to the left side of the block as well as the oil pan and the
impact/jolt caused the cast cam bracket to also break above #5.
Probably more gory would be the black splatter/spatter pattern.

Was that piston seized? I'm wondering if the oil cooling jet plugged. Any
repairs that used RTV?

My brother's 300D did the same thing, just #2 rather than #5. Cracked
the block instead of poking a rod out, but it's been know to happen.

I have an 82 300D with a thrown rod on #1 cylinder... hole in block big
enough to pass your hand through, just behind the alternator.

I would guess not attached. With being rejected, nothing would appear on
