As much or as little a PITA as any engine.
Easiest thing to do is rotate the engine so that each cylinder in turn
is at TDC with the cam followers out. You can then unscrew the
tappets and replace the seals. You will, of course, have to adjust
the valves after you are done.

Has anyone on the list replaced valve stem seals on a 617 ('85 300TD)? How
difficult a job is this?
