the feral hogs decimated bird life in Hawaii. Most birds there nested
on the ground and the hogs wiped many species completely out.
I'd like to hunt them as well, but shooting from a chopper would be my
preference

It did and it was excellent. Leftovers have been packaged up and the first load
of dishes put in the Bosch.

And yes, I’m smoking a turkey that I brined overnight and then spatchcocked
before smoking. makes it go faster and does a better job of smoking all of the
bird.

I do. Understand that the area I live in was empty farm and grove land 20 years
ago. 10 miles from me (or possibly less) the area is still undeveloped for now,
and it pretty much empty scrub or swampland. The pressure on wildlife from
development around here is significant. It’s causing a lot
Holy zoological park! I thought you lived in Tampa.

Our community, along with the community across the street from us, backs up
onto a 60+ acre conservation area that was deeded to us when the developers
purchased the property. The Alafia River flows along the southern part of the
park, and there are environmental lands (ELAPP) owned by the
Private park? Are they someone's property?

We have feral hogs in our private park immediately behind my house. They’re
nowhere near as large as the ones in Texas (that I’ve seen) but they’re
certainly present and they do a lot of damage. If I go walking back there I
always carry a sidearm in the event I stumble across a bunch of them.
My ex-BIL had the damn things rampaging through his housing development south
of Houston tearing up yards. He was well armed but unfortunately discharging
weapons was not allowed so they continued to sustain the damage. He was
disappointed he couldn’t get some to put on the smoke.

Some years ago when I was living in Houston there was a story about a 10yo girl
who had gone out in the country hog hunting with her daddy and had no luck.
They came back to the truck and were loading up when this huge hog comes
walking across the road. The little girl grabs her rifle and
I'd like to go on a hog hunt, we don't have them here.My cousin lives in Texas
but for some reason won't have anything to do with hunting hogs. It'd be fun to
take some of dad's more interesting rifles on a hog hunt.
Actually I fired my .54 caliber muzzle loader today with 450grain "buffalo
Good fun, and some of em make good pork if ya get to em fast enough.
My uncle and cousins hunted feral pigs in the mountains of Hawaii. I
never got a chance to go with them. THey used an 03A3. probably one
issued to WWII Corps of Engineers in Hawaii, so long as they did not
have to leave
Seems a shame to waste all that meat. I've eaten wild boar sukiyaki and it
was quite delicious.
