Now that i think of it (and for your convenience, I'm placing a bull'seye between my eyes) did diesels come with CA emissions? My 240D came from the Golden State, and that engine was much more sluggish than the replacement that came from Nevada. Granted, it was about to give up the ghost.

AFAIK, the only Cal-specific emissions equipment was on the '85s, when MBZ put the Particulate Trap Oxidizer on cars for California. (of course that it meant that they needed to move several things to make room for it, so several other things like the manifolds and air filters are unique for
