The rear antenna is located on the drivers side rear panel, by the trunk.
Maybe it is not extending

Far as I know the radio gets it's FM signal from the regular antenna.
Why put an antenna in the bumper, it is not going to get the best
reception there.

With bumper/rear window antenna
the rear bumper is designed for FM reception, the signal is routed
via the FM bumper antenna amplifier installed on
the left side in the thrunk to the AM

I know nothing about W140, but I would assume the FM antenna is the external
whip.
