Mobil makes a Turbo and Truck Diesel Oil in 5W40. I started using this in my 240D and 300D and am pleased with it. It's designed for diesel and will hold soot in suspension better than the 15W50. It is found at Walmart and AutoZone or AdvanceAuto Larry T (67 MGB, 74 911, 78 240D, 91 300D)

That's all I've put into my cars. My SD went about 1500 miles between quarts. It leaked enough that the tail lights/bumper/license plate would be speckled with oil after highway trips. Dad's '85 300D went to Reno and back, 3,600 miles and used about 3/4 qt. Not high consumption in my book.
