I can sympathize -- I spent $400 including the tow for a flex disk,
which isn't that hard to replace.
Better than being stuck on the side of the road, though.

This lead me to believe the water pump was not working correctly.
Why does everybody always think it's the water pump? Wishful
thinking? If not the thermostat, it's almost always the radiator.
Or such is my limited experience. (Hint: I've done this too.)
