My $200 Honda Civic and $435 Chevy Citation were the exceptions to that rule,

1989 when the 1-2 shift fork finally broke and the car was too rusty to be
worth a day's work pulling the transmission out. Used whatever oil and filters
Firestone put in it for the first 145k, whatever was on sale the
My Dodge Dakota had 222,000 miles, the engine was great but it was rusty...

I don't think thats a crack price, its hard to find anything running/driving
for under $2000 anymore. I'd think $3k wouldn't be unreasonable.
