I missed this-sad. Like Mitch said, many mechanics just kick the arms in
place. When I worked around lifts we had the drive on rails-no good for
brake and wheel work but solid-some of the old ones had a pin lock system in
case the hydraulic failed.

The normal failure mode for a lift is a dent in the floor that the car's owner
I think he did as he came out shaking and thanked me for putting jacks under
the car...

The 85 torque converter is different, and the pilot bearing
hole in the flywheel is also a different size to accommodate.
You'd have to keep the same TC.

The 85 still uses the 722.3 tranny, but the cali version uses the 722.4,
which is a smaller tranny like is used on the 190s and such. I would
think you could swap in a 722.3 though Both use the speedo cable

The passenger side RF seatbelt works but the plastic on the bayonet has
broken off. As a result, the buckle gets lost under the seat when
retracted, which is a source of irritation. Would also appreciate
instructions on how to remove the B pillar cover that hides the reel. I
have some nice
instructions on how to remove the B pillar cover that hides the reel.
IIRC, it's two philips screws at the bottom of the cover,
then the bottom pulls out and you can undo the hook at the top.
Really quite easy.
