I just fixed the little Tek 2336, a wire had broken off of the focus control, it was _bad_ that way. the beam width was nearly one major division! How hard is the ride with them? You could swap the tires before you flip the car ... Seemed fine. They're H, not Z rated. Falken Ze512's, that was the Z he was talking about. I read mixed reviews of them. For whatever reason, I've never been able to get the US version to work. I've tried it on different computers, with different credit cards, etc. and never had it work. I've probably been banned. Nearly everything in the online EPC can be found elsewhere if you look hard enough. I have a DAS diagnostic system, so the EPC and WIS is a part of it, so it's a moot point for me. I buy stuff from DealExtreme, it is really cheap but sometimes takes a month or 6 weeks to show up via Hong Kong post, but never a problem with anything. Some stuff I got recently was shipped via Netherlands Post, I have no idea what that was about. Their web site is like crack, usually by the time I get stuff I have lost interest in whatever project I was going to build but it is so cheap so doesn't really matter. [MBZ] Urgently Needed: Viton(?) Injector Return Line
Someone on the list mentioned getting some tubing for injector return lines from McMaster-Carr, IIRC. I also recall that it worked out well. Since our '82 240D/3.0 is again our main driver, I have found that the return lines are weeping rather badly. And since my lungs have recently been insulted by something Shirley used to do some hand washing, I need to fix the return lines so their leaks don't continue to exacerbate my problems. I get online and using my perpetual 30% discount code for the Advanced Auto that's nearby, I order one for pickup. I take my car out and drop off my dry cleaning and pick up the COP. Get back home, pop the cover off the engine, and in ten minutes I'm done. Time for a test drive. I realized I needed to replenish my supply of cold beverages, so I drive to the nearby grocery store to pick some up. The car runs like crap. Damn! Fortunately, I had left the code scanner in the car and connected, so I was scanning while I'm driving only to see the P0306 code again. What??? Hmm. Could be a bad coil out of the box, could be a fouled plug. I get back home, toss the hood open and once again remove the plastic cover. Yea, it drives fine, suspension and steering feel good, shifts are perfect if a little on the stiff side (good), has plenty of power, idles smooth and does not shake from side to side like it has uneven compression from a bent rod. [MBZ] Today's Humbling Experience
Yes, we've all been there, so I'll be happy to share So I took the day off today to go with the wife and her sister, who is visiting, to the Sunken Gardens, a relic of the old Florida tourista places. We take her car, the 2005 Mazda 6, since mine is not adequate for three adults. As I drive her car over to St. Pete, it's missing and surging something awful. The CEL is flashing occasionally as well. Great. I ask, Oh dear, has you car been acting up lately? Yeah, it's been running poorly since yesterday. (Great. NOW she tells me.) I chide her for not telling me about before we left, or better yet, last night when she got home. A good example why I'm not keen about her driving an MB, as I fear that a situation such as this would be ignored until it escalated into something critical. Grrr. To her a car is nothing more than transportation. So we get home this afternoon and I immediately put my scanner on it. P0306, both constant and pending, meaning that the COP for the number six cylinder has gone south. I'm thinking I'm living right, as cylinders one through three in this car are in back and under the intake manifold, a job that is not for the faint of heart and something I've already deferred to the dealer in the past. Cylinders four through six are right in front under an easily removable plastic cover. Whew! I get online and using my perpetual 30% discount code for the Advanced Auto that's nearby, I order one for pickup. I take my car out and drop off my dry cleaning and pick up the COP. Get back home, pop the cover off the engine, and in ten minutes I'm done. Time for a test drive. I realized I needed to replenish my supply of cold beverages, so I drive to the nearby grocery store to pick some up. The car runs like crap. Damn! Fortunately, I had left the code scanner in the car and connected, so I was scanning while I'm driving only to see the P0306 code again. What??? Hmm. Could be a bad coil out of the box, could be a fouled plug. I get back home, toss the hood open and once again remove the plastic cover. Good luck in getting the buttons to work properly. Currently I have to punch the button next to the defrost button to get the fan running, and then punch the middle or button on its right to get hot or cold. Spraying the buttons mechanisms with Deoxit improved the situation but I still have to go through the process of getting the fan running, and then punching the hot or cold button. I replaced all three control units with used units from Arizona, which didn't work at all until I resoldered the button unit. (The original unit had burnt up while driving; probably because I accidentally punched two buttons simultaneously). The Arizona units had the same defects. I suspect that the problem might be in the pushbutton contacts or the mechanisms that engage one while disingaging another. Gerry All good reasons I love the 240D and older cars with the dual heat manual controls. ACC was a gimmick to sell expensive cars, but is never allowed separate R and L control, and is always breaking. I was thinking the same thing. I believe the Adult Beverage Low Warning Light may have been flashing at a high cyclic rate that caused a shadow which blanked out the coil connection from normal vision recognition. The ABLWL light works in conjunction with the ABOLL [Adult Beverage Over Limit Light] which, as you know, causes CUSPMS [Coyote Ugly Surprise Partner Morning Syndrome] . And since my lungs have recently been insulted by something Shirley used to do some hand washing, I need to fix the return lines so their leaks don't continue to exacerbate my problems. I need to check my 97 e300, it shifts fine but I suspect it is getting a little on the worn out side. I think that is the deal with these .6 boxes, they shift fine even when worn out until they just quit, but that is just my impression. This thing has been bugging me big time. I have wanted a last model year 126 diesel for many many years but they almost never come up for sale. This one is pretty well documented service wise. It still has a chance of bending rods I suppose but at 228K I think the big chance of that has already passed. I for some reason think the head gasket was done which I believe is what the main cause of bent rods is in the first place. We had a deal at $2500 and then he comes back and says he has to have $2800 just angers me. I'm using both Vista and Windows 7, at home (work blocks the Java connection to servers not on a white list, I think). Need to have current Java installed and set up correctly. Mac is not supported. Sometimes a Java update will kill it until the EPC developers catch up, may take a month or longer. For anyone keeping track, I changed out the PBU with a spare I have and the same thing occurs where the interior fan does not come on when the Hi-speed fan and middle (lower) PBU button are depressed after the car is started but the fan will start when the defrost button is depressed, so it looks like I've gotta' look into the connection(s) to the fan itself. I don't think a 123 has a voltage regulator porcupine? The W123 has a resistor network up by the air filter housing somewhere I think (I'll check with my brother). At least somewhere up front on the passenger side, as my brother had to fix his where the car got hit. If the connections at the resistor network are bad, the fan will work intermetently at any speed by high, where it's bypassed. Good luck in getting the buttons to work properly. Currently I have to punch the button next to the defrost button to get the fan running, and then punch the middle or button on its right to get hot or cold. Spraying the buttons mechanisms with Deoxit improved the situation but I still have to go through the process of getting the fan running, and then punching the hot or cold button. I replaced all three control units with used units from Arizona, which didn't work at all until I resoldered the button unit. (The original unit had burnt up while driving; probably because I accidentally punched two buttons simultaneously). The Arizona units had the same defects. I suspect that the problem might be in the pushbutton contacts or the mechanisms that engage one while disingaging another. Gerry G. M.
