The part (spare wheel) arrived finally, it's somewhat rusty so giving it
a bath and electrolysis treatment. Once the rust is gone I'll give it a
POR-15 paint job, should be good for a long while.

The VIN was in the ad, so I looked it up on lastvin.com. It shows:

The key got to position two before the ignition broke. Tow truck driver
tried to use a screwdriver after that.
The driveway was about half a block long and not big enough for a tow
truck so the goal was to drive it to the street
Position two is as far as it would go and it wouldn’t turn

Never seen a brown W123 coupe before. Could be a steal at $3k. Looks like
someone got angry (or was plastered) and stabbed the front seat with a
kitchen knife. Easy replacement. Definitely worth a look to enrich
Floyd's garage.

I’ve done it, it’s a pig of a job because of where the ABS unit is located.
Cheap repair, but really unpleasant to do, like motor mounts.
