I did not get a Carmax quote. I am very happy that it went to a good home where
it will get used rather than just sitting around.

Other than the price, I would happily acquire one of these.

OMG I love that color.
Knock it back to $6k based on the known flaws, drive it for a year, and
then flip on BAT for $12k. Then retire and move to MD, expanding our tax
base.

I don't believe it. A 240D will go a million miles. Too much complexity on the
modern engines.

OK here's your chance to bid on a genuinely rare 5 speed manual 300TD turbo
wagon. Currently at $8500.
Has some flaws that might be worth overlooking for the Truly Eager.
*Ownership History*
*The seller acquired this 300TD in
Hinsdale is a wealthy suburb, owner probably had the $$$ to keep the car up as
claimed. Does look nice, probably is worth top of market for all the documented
maintenance. Reasonable "OBO" might take it.

Proper wheels for a W123. Always liked the look of those better than the Bundts.

That Benz is a first year W221? Yeah that would be a good package deal

Worth a look. Also worth a pre purchase inspection to see how well that

I never believe the "AC just needs a recharge" line. If that's all it needs,
why doesn't the seller do it and remove it as an issue in the sale? The buyer
should assume the system (which is approaching 40 years old) has leaks, and
probably needs a complete overhaul with many parts replaced.

Since they are familiar with Sprinters and put plenty of miles on them, I
figured that they must know something about the Blutec system. It’s the short
trips that are the worst. I hope it runs for a long time.

Just like my wife's moved-along "A" car. Milan brown and Bamboo, IIRC.
Missing the hardtop? Has a rubber ducky antenna instead of the Hirschmann.
We rather liked the car, once we got it all sorted out.

Wasn't the year of delivery also the year that the price of crude oil
cratered to below $30 per barrel, because of the huge oil field discovered
in the USA and fracking?
I seem to recall being "rich as a Saudi Prince" suddenly cratered about
that time.

True, but this such a rare car that people are going to bid with abandon

I have finally gotten around to having a couple of different roofing
companies come out to look at both houses to give a quote and figure out
how to proceed with possible insurance claims with USAA. To recap,
after 20 years with them and exactly no claims on houses, they have

I have two sets of feeler gauges. One is metric, Craftsman brand, that I've had

The other is in thousandths, KD Tools brand, picked up at a parts shop probably
at least 15-20 years ago.

Most likely, unless it’s an M112, which it probably isn’t. I believe the M112

When I’ve been looking of late, anything 350 that was 2006-2008 I immediately

Actually I think I am going to be screwed on the rental house. I have
it insured as a rental property rather than homeowners. I got to reading

much it will

Wouldn't a 2006 350 have the bad balance shafts?

Asphalt shingles? Depending what grade of shingle was used, they are good for
20-30 years. So I'd guess a 2004 roof would be getting close to fully
depreciated.

Might want to check a couple more "leaves" on the KD Tools set, if they are out
too throw it out. Decent feeler gauges aren't that expensive and
