At work we use a windows server, only because they had to have exchange.
Also a partner company of ours makes a hardware box for recording video and
they use windows xp embedded. They have all kinds of problems with the box,
a lot of which are due to poor drivers.

It was me. Good ODO, bad speedo. And one of the caps was indeed shorted.
But with both inop, I'd suspect the speed signal to the unit or
power/grounding. There is also a chip that controls both. Otherwise. the
ODO and speedo are pretty independent.
Here's a link to photos and a schematic that
instruments work fine. Thing has 130k on it. Guess I might end up
having to swap in another speedo to see if it works then. But would
want to find one with similar mileage on it if I have to replace it.
