Haven't tried a steep slope, but the belts in my Benzes (at least the
newer ones) lock under firm to hard braking.
The system works -- I got T-boned in my 300D in September, and the belt
held for the impact, but reeled in normally when I released it to get

in my w140, so let me cross post this since it explains how Mercedes
manages the locking of the belt.

When I haven't been able to drain the water from a pipe I'm soldering, I've
been able to get the soldering done by stuffing a piece of bread in the
pipe. The bread holds back the water enough to allow soldering, and is
easily flushedout when the water is turned back on.

also the fact that being metal it can come in contact with terminals on

Maybe. This house is interesting, it appears to have been totally redone at
least twice.
All the plumbing is no more than 20 years old, some is considerably less than
that. The living room and master bedroom both have conventional drywall.

Probably plaster and lath. I just use long screws and some kind

'88 is newer than I'm used to, but AFAIK the 900 had inertia belts.
Pull fast, and they latch. Should unlatch if you take the pressure off

haven't made it at all obvious how to unlock these belts. Anyone out there

the gassers have 4:00 or 4:11 rear ends, the diesels have something
like 3:23. Lotta low end performance, but 4500 vs 6600 choped the top
end off.
Factory six cylinders usually go 110-120 mph.
Must be something else wrong with it too, a stock 75/75 300D W115 will
do 95.

i saw a google car driving around our little community the other day
taking piccies for the "street view" feature. It had a frame with a
periscope type deal on top of the car, and a GPS antenna. Daughter unit
checked but none available yet (why should it take more than a few
hours!!!).

There are 2 check valves on the front of the vac pump (on the TD, a
123), and there is a little plate that comes off to get at them, 2
screws. You DO NOT have to remove the vac pump to get them out -- just
unscrew those screws, take the plate off, and the check valves are right
