Re: [MBZ] socialized vs primal dog (soapbox polemic with nomercedes content)
That's pretty sad. Not to belittle the incident, but it is actually really weird to me that the dog would hold still for repeated kicks from a guy who, by judging by his appearance, could not move that fast. Also weird that the dog would be mortally injured by such. I mean, dogs tend to be so tough that you could drop bricks on their heads and they barely seem to feel it. Guess that doesn't mean their brains are necessarily protected from impact. I'm guessing that the dog in this incident (and it almost makes me want to cry thinking about it) was submissive enough to just hold still and take the beating. Also: I really with I knew that it was against the rules for an officer to release personal I.D. information to another citizen. That's exactly what this lying cop did to me. Re: [MBZ] Painting a fender $???
Depends to what quality level you want to go. I find, painting a part off a car, (old paint going next to new) you will never get a perfect match and you'll see it at 20 paces. I've had fenders painted on cars, and they "feather" the paint in, and you can't tell. And I'm really really fussy. If it's just a quick paint fender off to make it look presentable, I would think $150-200 should do it, maybe less as some discount places. You could probably be careful and wet sand it down a little yourself after painting, and get some of the orange peal out. Just watch when you're near the corners and edges, easy to go through. maybe think about having it painted while on. It's not a new finder, so all the hidden bits are already painted and protected. Re: [MBZ] 300SDL, How is the headlight wiper removed?
Easy. If you look closely at the headlight wiper where it is mounted on the motor shaft, you'll notice that the metal cover that matches the arm is hinged. If you carefully pry the cover up, you'll find a 10mm nut on the end of the motor shaft. Take the nut off and the arm will come off, much like a regular windshield wiper arm does. It happens. years ago, I had a chevette. I gave it to a friend, and he was later looking for a couple of parts too. He was told he just missed them, all went in the crusher. I even tried to take a few friends here into getting W124s or W126s. If we could all decided on the same car, buy a 4th and keep it for spares. Take what we want or need off it, and throw a few bucks in the jar for the next one. Their argument was, we'd probably all need the same parts. So, I'm the only guy driving a benz. Oh well. Re: [MBZ] One of the finest sports cars ever made
It's probably on the web somewhere - there was a commercial for the Karmann Ghia back in the late 60s where they were tracking along side while one drove across the Bonneville Salt Flats, with a voice over about it being the sports car of the VW line, etc. Suddenly the car comes up on a big banner similar to the ones they had in those Shell commercials where the car blows through the banner. Instead, the Ghia runs up to the banner, and you see this "bulge" in the banner from the nose of the car, while in the background you hear the engine revving. Hee. As fuel prices go up, more and more people want something for nothing. Meaning more people are looking to buy old Mercedes and drive them for free. "They run forever." "Veg oil is free." Re: [MBZ] One of the finest sports cars ever made
This gets my vote. They aren't perfect, but they're as close to it as anyone has come to making one, in my opinion anyway. SCs and Carreras of the 80's give great mileage for the performance, build like a benz, and will go 200,000-400,000 kms with little or no work other than service if cared for. I think a garage with a mid 80s 911, a W123 TDT, and a BMW bike is just about perfect. ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_911 Ed 300E On 15/03/2008, LWB250 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Check out the ads: > > http://www.ccwn.org/Karmann-Ghia/USWERB.HTM > > MacDan > > > > > > > > Never miss a thing. Re: [MBZ] Another leaking PS pump
I went through and replaced the seal and other soft parts on my pump on my '81 SL. Pretty straight forward. The only real problem I ran into was removing the big Aluminum plug. I didn't have a socket big enough so I tried a big Cresent wrench. That's when I found out how soft the flats on the big plug are. Kinda rounded off the edges but I finally got it off.
