I finally got the power steering pump off our '94 E420! The secret was taking the left cold air tube and plastic/rubber baffle off in order to be able to see the offending last bolt. Once I could see it, with the socket and extension routing tips I read on Peachtree, it wasn't extraordinarily

You need to loosen the clamp on the cable jacket at the IP, and slide the jacket toward the firewall enough so that it will hit the start position. Probably 2-4 mm as a guess. THat is the primary adjustment. As for glow, I have several times installed a secondary glow or starter switch.

If I am assessing your measurements correctly, you are getting readings under the nominal bore size? (negative) that seems odd. If your numbers are in thousandths of a MM, then i think Mitch is right. Probably not much to get worried about. Can you see crosshatching on the cylinder walls?
