It seems like a fairly stupid design, hardly up to Benz engineering
standards to have just a little plastic hinge to make the accel work.
And yet, they hardly ever break. I've had one in my entire fleet.
And it was the sliding plastic socket, probably broken when someone
floored it excessively
that sums it up. that 2.2l ecotec was THE BEST 4 cylinder the general ever
built up to that time, but the bean counters cheaped out for a few pennies
and the chains were giving up the ghost on account of it.
instead immediately stepping up and saying "hey, we let the beancounters get
us again but
if it is at all as described, you need to jump all over it (or needed to
have already). it does happen.
guy was selling a mint grand wagoneer for $1800 on atlanta craig's
recently. next day, same car was selling for $7900 with another seller.

The clear peels because there is no pigment there and uv rays kill it..

So last night driving the 300SD the accel pedal was sticking/not pushing
down easily. I just checked it, it looks like the little tab that is on
the back of the pedal has detached from the plastic fitting that is on
the metal arm. I can't tell if the little fitting should be part of the
pedal
