[MBZ] OT: House addition photos
What's the latest on new addition to the house? Have we seen photos? These two photos are from the end of construction this Spring. It still looks pretty much like this, though there is now some scrub grass growing up. (We haven't done any landscaping yet.) http://userweb.windwireless.net/~jimc/addition1.jpg http://userweb.windwireless.net/~jimc/addition2.jpg -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] Power Steering Groaning
The noise probably has something to do with the suspension rather than the power steering system. Think bushings, tie rod ends, etc. On Tue, Nov 3, 2009 at 3:22 PM, Rich Thomas < richthomas79td...@constructivity.net> wrote: > 79 TD, fluid is clean and up to proper level. Re: [MBZ] Chinese Volvos, Medieval Chinese Navy
Thanks Greg, that is a great synthesis of the stuff that I read. Another culture that had superior ocean-going sailing craft and navigational skills were the Polynesians, but unfortunately much of that history is lost because it was oral. Whenever I compare early European sailing craft to that of other cultures preceding the rise of the British empire, the non-Europeans generally had much better craft and navigation. European ships seemed to be really low-tech, using the brute-force method to survive nature, whereas for instance Egyptians made ships out of reeds and sailed all over the Mediterranean coast of Africa and the middle east and potentially could have sailed to the Americas (see Thor Heyerdahl's books). I think, was a great article in National Geographic and also in a Navy magazine I used to subscribe to, point is that they did this hundreds of years before the English/Spanish/French/Dutch), trading all over Asia and Africa, and there is evidence that they even sailed to North America. They invented the concept of compartmenting a ship, all though they did it for trade reasons instead of engineering and then later discovered the benefit (harder to sink a ship with water tight compartments). Their sail rigging also allowed their ships to sail faster and closer to the wind than a European square-rigged ship of the same hull size. Re: [MBZ] Fuel Leakage Question
The only time this ever happened to me was when I put the cap on crooked so only one ear was grabbing. If the vent were plugged, there would be other symptoms and the usual pressure differential caused by a plugged vent is a vacuum condition, not a pressure condition. I'd be suspicious of your tank neck seal, and recommend you check it to see if it is square/flat or deformed. You could try cleaning the neck and the cap really well, and then putting some talc on the rubber seal in the cap, put it on and remove, and see if the talc is removed in a complete circle or not (same trick used to see where a door seal is leaking air). You may have to just push the cap down firmly to see if there is a low spot in the neck somewhere, as the rubbing action from closing the cap might move enough rubber/talc over the low spot that it won't be visible when you remove the talc. It appears to be escaping from the tank when making 90 degree left turns. It seems to be forced past the cap and draining out of the vent in the fill area. I have replaced the cap with no success. Is it possible the tank is over pressurized forcing the fuel past the cap?
