The bolt is broken off near the end I guess. See links to images. The
end of the bolt remains in the crankshaft bore, and I need to get it
out.
Though the threads on the bolt look chewed, the threads in the crank
look OK as best I can tell; not sure what scenario lead to this.

above that. It is a hardened bolt, but you may be able to drill the

i did the DVs on my 91 300D last year --- bought springs, seals, washers from
Rusty --
The new springs were ~1/4" longer than the old ones with 90,000 mi.

My '83 300D has the alternator attached to a bracket which has three bolts;
two holding the alternator and one pivoting the bracket IIRC. If all bolts
aren't tight the belt can get loose, but mine has never gotten as loose as
yours seem to be. I would wonder if the bracket might be broken or the
