The VIN on my TDI Beetle shows it as a '01. The title says '02.

Speaking of AC, I noticed when I was under the car this week, I noticed that
the AC compressor is pretty accessible from below.
Since all he needs to get the system running again is a clutch coil, I was
wondering if anyone has the special wrench for removing the pulley, or if it's

Can the dealer do that, or would it have to be a mistake in the factory
paperwork or in data entry with DMV?

If you can purchase the special tool for fifty bucks or less, get it. Well
worth avoiding opening up the system and removing the compressor, makes the job
far easier.

Its an early announcement of a 2014 model... it'll be available in 2013 as
is usually the case.
I think they move these things up to keep customers interested and start
some pre-ordering.

But doesn't that devalue the 2013 models?
Or did they already need huge discounts
I was wondering if anyone has the special wrench for removing the
pulley, or if it's even necessary.
It's kinda necessary. I couldn't find one at an acceptable
price, when I needed it, so I made one:

I don't know the details of the sales figures, but you can be sure the
marketing people know exactly what they're doing.

I don't remember what tools I used, but I swapped the clutch from my
MB NipponDenso compressor to a toyhonsan ND compressor I got at a
junkyard. That was for my first SDL. I did not need or use any
special tool. I think I used large sockets and /or box wrench and
the rubber band wrench to

I want to do mine in-frame, which just about demands the use of a puller due to
the limited amount if space to access the pulley and compressor.
If it's just a matter of removing the nut, I can handle that. I was of the
impression that you needed a puller to get the pulley/clutch assembly off.
The later ones (w210/om606) has the valve bolted to the side of the IP, no
manual shutoff (electromagnetic governor--nothing but a voice coil fed a PWM
signal from what I can tell...)

They still have 2012 models in December?
That's a guarantee of desperation.
There are also the tax implications when it comes to inventory as well.

Looks like a Catheytool is the thing then. Although, if you have to

less. used on many toyhonsuzsans.

No, IIRC, the cluster grounds are all behind the dash - brown wires. One or
more are either loose, broken, or corrosion is between them and the
chassis. Keep looking there.
