If the wheel sensors are cruddy and you clean them up, yes, the system will
reset itself and clear the codes after driving for a bit.

There's no physical contact between the sensors and the rotors, so I would be
surprised if any non-ferrous material that might get in there during storage,

Doesn't ESP use sensors to keep the brake pads as close as possible to the
rotors to reduce braking distance? I would imagine that corrosion on the
discs would mess with that system.
I'd be inclined to try cheap/easy first (drive the car a bit) before taking
complex systems apart. Isn't there
Good suggestion, Max. I hadn't thought about the 4Matic stuff.
I found this out the hard way for a friend with a Subaru. Seems that he
replaced a tire due to some road damage. After doing so, he kept getting errors
from the AWD system. I looked at it for him and did some research on the

Well, I learned something today - thanks. I still dislike browns and
beiges in Mercedes, although my 1971 300SE L 3.5 (national MBCA concours
winner) was tobacco brown because didn't want to spend the extra $700 to
change the color to my favorite - moss green metallic..

Brown is the natural color of wood and leather. Don't you like wood and
leather in your car?
However, I agree that in an expensive sedan, brown doesn't say luxury to
me. I'd much rather have a dark blue or black or grey.
