The systems with the translucent AUTO button don't have porcupines, they have a separate fan control relay box (behind the glove box) and use a resistor pack under the hood. Plenty of places to go wrong. The PBU is reputedly designed to not have problems with any manner of simultaneous button pushes, but I have not verified this. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: https://server.secureplusplusfour.net:2083/cpsess595060604/3rdparty/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Not yet, apparently. I filled out a request for a quote on it last night for grins. They gave me $100 off the price because I'm a credit union member. Wow, how generous! I've already gotten a call from their lead person trying get me to tell them what they can do to help me move forward with my interest. I'll wait until after hours tonight and leave a voice mail telling them it's a *bit* above what I had budgeted. That'll get them worked up. Six owners. Last fall my wife and I picked up our 1973 GMC 23' motorhome and our first trip was a GMC rally on Treasure Island in the SF bay. We dry camped for 3 days there using a single solar panel wired through a cheap 6a charge controller into a pair of 6V deep cycle batteries. Do any of you have experience with the Sprinter, especially as a chassis for an RV? It seems they are powered by a V-6 turbodiesel. In the 2000 or newer, is there anything in particular to seek or avoid? Most I see with generators use LP gas. Since we like to dry camp for a week at a time, and I use a CPAP, a 13 gal LP tank @ 0.6 gal/hr doesn't compute. Are some out there with onboard diesel-powered generators? Any other comments welcome! Front of the engine faces the passenger fender. Cylinder number one is on front corner closest to passenger, with the number progressing up as you move towards the driver's side. Number three is back corner closest to driver. Move to the front of the engine, and four is front passenger side, moving towards driver's side has number six at the rear of the engine, front driver's side. Re: [MBZ] another oddball experience with W123 heat
Check to see if the valve moves when you apply voltage to the coil, and that you get full heat if you unplug the valve. The coils do fail, especially if the valve leaks coolant into the coil housing, which can happen when the rubber splits. If the valve is stuck shut by a corroded coil, it' won't allow water through no matter what. I need to clean up the contacts on the wheel (rotary variable resistor) on the TE, the temp wanders around, restored by wriggling the wheel up and down a bit -- you can hear the solenoids clicking under the dash as the mode changes with the heat setting. A small amount of corrosion on the wiper will cause the resistance read across the variable resistor to wander around, usually going open and shutting the heat off, at least on the W124 PBCU. I hate intermittent failures. High-Temperature Viton Fluoroelastomer Tubing Soft, 1/8 ID, 1/4 OD, 1/16 Wall, Black I just bought some more back in January, great stuff. Doesn't give the braided look for the original but stays flexible and seals well as near as I can tell forever. -Curt From: Craig via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Sent: Tuesday, March 10, 2015 10:49 PM Subject: [MBZ] Urgently Needed: Viton(?) Injector Return Line Someone on the list mentioned getting some tubing for injector return lines from McMaster-Carr, IIRC. I also recall that it worked out well. Since our '82 240D/3.0 is again our main driver, I have found that the return lines are weeping rather badly. And since my lungs have recently been insulted by something Shirley used to do some hand washing, I need to fix the return lines so their leaks don't continue to exacerbate my problems. My family and I will be visiting my daughter who lives on Jim Hogg, Austin, TX 78756. We will be flying on Delta, leaving from Kalamazoo on April 5 and departing Austin on April 11. [MBZ] Head work los angeles
Anyone know a good shop other than metric? I am going oversize on the valves. Thanks. On Mar 11, 2015 8:43 PM, Peter Frederick via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com wrote: Check to see if the valve moves when you apply voltage to the coil, and that you get full heat if you unplug the valve. For giggles Alaska has one time zone. They used to have four, but that made for issues doing business. Now it is all based on SE. Frankly (unlike 1940) most jobs do not depend on daylight and office buildings are artificially lit regardless of outside light (so energy use is not a factor). For the most part, work that really requires daylight (e.g. farming, construction, etc.) is scheduled around the sun and weather anyway. I've seen a factual analysis but I suspect very little is really effected by the DST time change except more daylight after work and the thrash of the biannual change. -Original Message- From: Don via Mercedes Sent: Monday, March 09, 2015 3:22 PM DST is not the problem, the problem is changing the clocks twice a year. DST is great, since we would never get all the businesses and government offices to work 7-4 instead of 8-5. Getting home earlier to have another hour before dark is great. Emotionally it's harder to get to work at 7 than 8, even if the real time is the same. The spring change that results in getting less sleep and having to adjust our internal clocks is the problem. The solution is to set DST as standard time across the whole country forever - NO changing the clocks at all. Set it and leave it. One adjustment once, never again, more sunlight after work, all is well. Grants problem is bucking the rest of the country - you always suffer that way, whether you're right or not. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com All posts are the result of individual contributors and as such, those individuals are responsible for the content of the post. Re: [MBZ] OT: The force behind early daylight savings time.
They do show the western Aleutians as being in a separate time zone. I was wondering about that, since they used to be several time zones west of Anchorage when I visited them. That is a LONG way out there from the mainland. Nice place to visit, but believe me, you don't want to stay there Dan On Mar 11, 2015, at 11:22 PM, Craig via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com wrote: On Wed, 11 Mar 2015 20:14:22 -0700 clay via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com wrote: For giggles Alaska has one time zone. Re: [MBZ] OT: The force behind early daylight savings time.
The time zones get pretty small when you get far north, and the Aleutian Islands string out over several. I had a friend stationed on Attu, I think, same time as the west coast only 4 daylight hours off. Not a problem in the summer when night is only a few hours long, but made for very dark mornings.
