The rear wheels on my 124 300D have had a camber problem since i got it maybe 9 yrs ago. I replaced the rear subframe bushings, and all the links and bushings a couple years ago. It still has too much camber. tops in, bottoms out. supposedly the camber is not adjustable. All parts were OE or OEM. the obvious cause would be if the lower control arm was stretched, or the top link was too short. I did replace the LCAs also in the attempt to correct the problem. Body height seems right. springs were not sprung, or broken, replaced the rubber spring seats when working on the links. Any ideas how to correct or fix the camber problem? I am out of ideas. Surely someone here has fixed this before. I gave up on it for a while, but it is wearing the inside of the rear tires like a 126 in need of subframe bushings. Before putting tar on it, I want to try again to figure out the geometry and cause of the excess camber. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: https://server.secureplusplusfour.net:2083/cpsess595060604/3rdparty/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] OT: Big chil indeed.
Let's see! Where to begin? Warmer is much better than colder (for the US). The proposed solutions would seriously deteriorate the economic status of the poor and middle class (in the US). The former head of the IPCC has admitted that this cause is a religion to him. There are vast areas of the earth's surface for which we have no accurate temperature readings. Climate Science is NOT a science in the sense that there have not been null hypotheses which have been controverted by data. The issue has been heavily politicized by so called progressives and their fellow travelers of the press corps. Data have been altered and cherry picked without transparent justification. The leftist language police don't want to allow the use of the term climate skeptic but rather call us deniers in order to evoke images of Nazism and associate us with holocaust deniers; using the ad hominem approach since they lack actual scientific evidence for their chicken-little hysteria. So today and tomorrow are supermoons or something (the vernal equinox) so the morning tides are really high. My back yard is flooded more than usual today (and downtown Charleston is probably a swamp too). I am thinking that if we get a bit more sea level rise I could put in a dock and run my yaks right off the back deck instead of driving over to Capn Sams Inlet. I want to grow some mangoes too, it is a bit too chilly here for that. --R On 3/19/15 9:54 AM, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes wrote: Meade, there is far more money being spent by the polluters to fund climate change deniers. I heard on the radio that Starbucks is getting into racing now, probably NASCAR and not that wimpy uropeen thing if they know what's good for them. I guess instead of Winston Cup races they are going to have Starbucks Cup races or something, if I heard the story right. Something about cups and racing anyway. Sounds interesting, they must be expanding their target demographic. Next thing you know they will have their stands at the Flying J right by the diesel pumps, a big rig drive-up or something. Solar plane leaves India for next stop in Myanmar http://click1.email.energyguardian.net/ylqvmfzbcwynqvvfnfqykncmgfnbqgmtwtlgwlqfsbckq_dggdhthdt.html?a=12546By The Associated Press NEW DELHI (AP) — A solar-powered airplane on a historic round-the-world journey took offThursday from the northern Indian town of Varanasi and was headed for its next stop in Myanmar. Swiss pilots Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg are taking turns flying the aircraft as they attempt to circumnavigate the globe on the journey that was expected to take five months. The fuel-free aircraft, called the Solar Impulse 2, is powered by more than 17,000 solar cells on its wings that recharge the plane's batteries, enabling it to fly during the day or night. The single-seat Swiss-made plane was expected to land in Mandalay in Myanmar later Thursday, taking nearly 16 hours to complete the 1,400 kilometer (870 mile) trip over the Bay of Bengal. The plane flies ideally at around 25 knots, or 45 kph (28 mph). ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: https://server.secureplusplusfour.net:2083/cpsess595060604/3rdparty/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] Car Search
I found a couple of nice ones on Cars.com last night. Some Greek guy over in Tarpon Springs has both an S420 and S320 for sale. He wants stupid money for them, but they're both nice cars. I am coming to the realization that my prior purchases, both at ridiculously low amounts, may be coloring my opinions about the market. From what I am seeing, low mileage well cared for examples with provenance are selling upwards of $5k-$7k. Sub $5k examples are noticeably lower in quality and in need of attention of some sort. I wasn't prepared to drop this kind of coin on a 15+ year old car, but if that's the market, it's where I need to be if I want an exemplary example. The S420 this guy has is a 1999 with 84k on the clock and looks very nice. He is asking $10,900. That's stupid money in my opinion. The 1999 S320 that is in similar condition based on the pictures he sent me last night, along with 124k on the clock, is priced at $7,900. I'm thinking $6,000, maybe $6,500. I'll be looking at these over the weekend. Since this guy is 100% Greek, maybe I need Dimitri to come along and provide some Greek cred... Re: [MBZ] Juglans, wuz: Re: Nice 1984 300CD
Having been out of the airplane for 3 years while in engineering school at NC State U, I was required to attend B-52 combat crew training a second time at Atwater, CA, from July through Oct 1971 (first time July through Oct 1962). Across the street from where we lived in Atwater were large English walnut and almond orchards that appeared to have been abandoned. Grass and weeds had fairly well taken them over, and we never saw anybody there; coupla For Sale signs were posted on the property. Coupla days before departing in late Oct for my assignment at Kincheloe, MI, I walked over into the orchards and found the ground covered with beautiful almonds and walnuts, some of them obviously there for several days. Late the afternoon before leaving, SWMBO, the 3 children and I went into the orchards and gathered up a significant box full of each. Just before we left for MI the next day, our land lady came to wish us well and to present us a gift - another significant box each of the nuts. I tried to tell her that I was very appreciative, but we had scrounged (swiped/stolen) some from the orchards across the street the day before and that she should keep them for herself. She replied, That's where I got these! Here, please take 'em I picked them up for you. The land has been sold; they're ripping out all of the trees and gonna build houses there. I thanked her profusely, put 'em in the car and drove away with well over a bushel of each. We shelled and enjoyed almonds and English walnuts for months. BTW, in July of '72. when I went back through there for D-model (B-52D, that is) difference training en route to war in SE Asia, all of the trees were gone and the area was nearly filled with houses Wilton - Original Message - From: Craig via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Sent: Wednesday, March 18, 2015 8:12 PM Subject: Re: [MBZ] Juglans, wuz: Re: Nice 1984 300CD On Wed, 18 Mar 2015 09:48:55 -0500 Curly McLain via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com wrote: So, is there a difference between the eastern and western varieties? --R there is no western variety. As I expand my search I'm finding that the decent ones are north of $5,000, more than I had been previously considering. Looks like it's time to open the wallet and accept that the ones I have were anomalies due to luck or circumstance. There are two what appear to be nice prospects I'll be looking at this weekend. In my mind what really seals it are two things: (1) the absolute demonizing and *ad hominem *attacks on those who question global warming, and (2) the attempts to suppress publication of scientific studies which don't support the global warming narrative. Add to that the proposed solutions all increase government, taxes, regulations, and energy costs for the consumer, CO2 is plant food and absolutely vital for life as we know it, and the climate has NEVER been stable, and it becomes quite easy to recognize the fraud and decide to fight it. -Max ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: https://server.secureplusplusfour.net:2083/cpsess595060604/3rdparty/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

[MBZ] My florida tour has come to an end
I've been down in Florida since last Monday for work. We did a test drive for work, driving a loop around most of the state: Jacksonville - Daytona Beach (during bike week) - St. Petersburg - Naples - Miami Beach - Cocoa Beach - Jacksonville. Highlights of the trip were visiting folks along the way. Had a great dinner with Dan Penoff and his son Stu, and got to treat them to a ride in a Maybach. Dan and I haven't seen each other since the days of the Rusty Qs and it was great to catch up and share stories. Next up was Miami Beach for four nights, which meant visiting with Gary Hurst. We shared a few meals and drove around quite a bit. Gary in person, for those who haven't met him, is great experience. I always look forward to seeing him. And finally I had dinner with Pierre Hedary and his sister Marie on Tuesday, followed by a visit to his shop on Wednesday with the Germans. They're both gracious hosts and we had a great time. I could hang out there for a week I think. His shop holds many treasures, including a 1967 300SEL, very similar to my car. I'm a bit surprised by my busy social calendar over the trip... its a reminder of what kind of community our hobby can create. Ad hominem occurs from both political persuasions. There are zero solutions, however, we could agree that we are persons that all desire to continue to live. Those with money cannot continue to make money if we do not purchase stuff, yet, we all need to purchase stuff. I drive a 30 year old used car and buy used USA made stuff on purpose. On purpose I do not purchase items made in china. The Empire is dead. USA and tenticles worldwide make the Empire a world failure.
