Hard to argue with the cost/benefit ratio of the basic rope-pull 5-6kW genny. WAY better than no power at all, and will run most anything you need to. Can even heat up the hot water tank for a shower, if you turn off everything else. (About 4kW for most hot water heaters, IIRC.) -- Jim Once
