Re: [MBZ] Urgent repair shop needed in central mass
One thing I learned from my dealer parts guy is that the EPC will often show a part to be NLA when it's really not. He says there is another system they used called Paragon which is the determining source as to whether or not a part is still available. He urged me to always check with him on parts that show as NLA in the EPC before going elsewhere. More often than not the part has been available. On a related note, he gave me the MB key reference sheets yesterday when I ordered some keys for the S420. There's about 6 pages of stuff and it's the definitive reference for what keys go with which model car along with remote part numbers and key part numbers. Not something you often use, but a great resource none the less. Re: [MBZ] ? for the easterners
If you want to avoid potentially chilly temperatures, I would stay south of the Space Coast (Melbourne, Cocoa Beach) on the east coast, and Tampa on the west. The Panhandle and Jacksonville have seasons. It can easily get into the 30s-40s in Pensacola and Panama City in the winter months. Avoid South Florida unless you're looking for an international flare. Naples is nice but it's where all the rich conservatives winter, so it's pricey. You could always go to the Bradenton area, which is immediately south of me (Tampa). It's where the Amish winter. Dan (don't tell the deacon!) Re: [MBZ] Ceramic brakes Wuz:This is bad
There’s no special break-in process for ceramic pads that I know of. You bed them in just like you would a set of organic pads, and that’s it. I’ve used ceramic pads on the last three cars I’ve owned, and not only do they keep the wheels a lot cleaner, they last longer, too. [MBZ] $2000 for an '83 300D, 130k miles?

He's mulling http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20150808/PC1603/150809393/1009 I think he just came by a little while ago, I heard the helicopter buzzing around, but I did not go out to wave the flag. My buddy and his wife were riding their bikes on the beach when they were here a few weeks ago, saw Mrs. B jogging on the beach early Sunday morning. She had a coupla SS guys trailing along and the Coasties had a dinghy following off the beach, and there was a cutter a bit further off shore. I was riding my bike the afternoon they came, bunch of cops came flying past me in the road and closed it down, I rode on to the roundabout and stopped next to one of the deputies and was chatting with him, the motorcade came by a few minutes later. The deputy seemed rather bored with the whole matter and seemed to rather be doing something else. I got a bunch of pics. It was actually fairly low-key, only 6 or 8 vehicles aside from ever how many cops. It always buggers up the (one) road coming out this way as they have sort of a rolling blockade that blocks off other roads and driveways and such for 10 or 15 minutes. I have no idea why they don't just fly him out in a helo from the airport and dispense with all the drama but I guess that would be more involved. He occasionally comes to the little shopping center down the road for an ice cream or whatever, usually fairly low-key. I try to avoid the place this time a year as it is full of idiot Yankee turistas who check their brains at the bridge before proceeding on out this way. --R On 8/8/15 12:16 PM, Mitch Haley via Mercedes wrote: On August 8, 2015 at 11:31 AM Rich Thomas via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com wrote: is coming by again today. Re: [MBZ] OT - a little excitement, propane fire
This afternoon I did a tank exchange (empty one for a full one) at Wal-Mart for $16.89. 'Did not turn in the leaking one yet, though. Grilled coupla mighty good salmon steaks without burning myself nor the house. BTW, the two small ('bout 5/8 dia.) burned spots on my hand are healing fast and nicely - not burned as badly as I first thought. I guess this is a reason why charcoal is better but we use propane because it's easier. Those swap cylinders are NOT full. they have 16-18 lb in a 25 lb cylinder. When you get the tank filled, they put in 25 lb for a buck or two less than a swap. Does Costco sell propane down south? We are currently paying $8.45 for a 20# fill at Costco here in Winnipeg.
