Anyone have access to a domestic flat rate book?

Friend wondering about labor cost to change AT in 2010 grand caravan.
In a rear drive car, not a prob, but I have no idea about labor cost
for a FWD.  I know, way early for a trans failure, but I'm not
involved with diagnosis, jut trying to find what is a reasonable cost
for this.

Curt, what was the labor for your VW?  That may be similar or less.

Transmissions between 350 (used) to $3-4000 new/rebuilt etc.

There is an audio recording of Lee Cline of WHO Radio interviewing a

glider pilot. Sylvan worked for the stat Conservation Commission,
and Lee asked him why he walked with a limp. Sylvan told about the
glider experience and the difference between training and landing in
france, with the hedgerows and rock walls. Sylvan's glider hit a
hedge and rock wall, and he was on his way home on his first day in

a postage stamp size field in france. I'll see if I can find the cd

Moog and SKF are 3 yr
Mopar is 2 yr.

the Mopars lasted 3-4 years including the overheating from the

I probably should look at the price with shipping for several brands.

Obviously a high use product with 7-10 different vendors. It is a

Re: [MBZ] OT politics: Republicans stealing Hillary signs

2015-08-30 Thread G Mann via Mercedes
If anyone other than Hillary had the same history of criminal involvement
in an organized criminal enterprise over the past 40 plus years, all assets
would be seized and RICO charges would be brought, trial would be held, and
imprisonment would follow, for the maximum allowed by law.

Both Bill and Hillary are a text book example of misusing the power of
public office to manipulate, enrich themselves, control, and abuse power
and trust.

Only laying blame on their personal abuse of office, not any political
party affiliation, and only looking at the facts, not speculation, logical
conclusion can be made that ample evidence of a long standing criminal
enterprise has been operated by them working in concert with others.

Politics be damned, holding the vessel of public office does not give free
pass to violate laws.

This video is now on youtube, it runs 1:33 and while long, covers some of
the back story of the Clintons. It has first party interviews [many] with
people who observed illegal activity or participated in illegal activity
with or at the direction of Clintons. If you watch it, draw your own
conclusions.

[MBZ] Sudden loss of mystery oil in W123 300TD wagon

2015-08-30 Thread Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes
I came hope loaded with mulch after a long drive, backed up the driveway
and then noticed drips of oil and followed them back into the street. Then
I saw a lake of thinnish oil under the REAR of the car, dripping lustily.
I caught what was left in a drip pan and checked fluids under the hood.
All seemed to be OK so I am concluding tentatively that this is rear diff
fluid. The self leveling suspension fluid level seems normal, and besides,
SLS fluid is clear and not black.

I have a tow truck lined up first thing tomorrow morning. Has this sudden
catastrophic loss of rear diff oil ever happened to anyone else?

Now, recall that I have to get it on the track for under $500. That
means whatever I part from it can pay for repairs, but I have to come as
close to $500 in the wash. Not sure what all parts become spare on each.
Not too into rust repair anymore, either.

Re: [MBZ] Sudden loss of mystery oil in W123 300TD wagon

2015-08-30 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
Diff oil isn't thin and it smells really bad of sulfur, it should be easily
identifiable. I assume you'd have said if it was black engine oil. ATF is red,
your power steering fluid might be too. SLS is, I think, mostly colorless.
You did check the color of the fluid didn't you?

Subject: [MBZ] Sudden loss of mystery oil in W123 300TD wagon

SLS fluid ought to be clear or light green/blue if the Febi version, but is
often black when the pump seals start to go and allow engine oil to mingle
with the hydraulic oil. This would be evident in the reservoir as well.
