Yep, she could probably put a layer of DARK (anti-UV) film on inside of the sun/moon roof, too. Just drove to Sam's and back; can probably bake cookies in the unoccupied black car on a 90° day like today. The glass sun/moon roof is tinted and has a shade pulled across under it, but there's a "heating" space between it and underside of the glass and vent holes in the shade, so that glass section of roof serves as an additional cabin heater. I wouldn't mind blocking ALL of the UV/heat sneaking through that hole. The black paint soaks up plenty of heat to spare; I don't need a piece of glass overhead adding even more. Wonder how much more that ridiculous piece of glass in the roof has cost me already and will continue to cost me above the cost of a sensible steel roof with no hole in it?. Seems likely there is another 240 setting in salvage somewhere close by that could become donor of the entire under hood wiring harness. A couple hours of "plug and play" and "Achmed's your uncle". I'm going to look at a 83 240d tomorrow. Original owners wife drove it and she died and he parked it in the barn for a few years. In the mean time rats chewed wiring under the hood. The guy who has it now spliced some wires back together to get it running and it runs and drives fine he says. He says ac is not working but everything else does including cruise. It has manual everything so I would not think there would be that much complicated wiring in a 240d to fix.
