Actually, it has nothing to do with BIOS. The laptop boots into CentOS just fine, since CentOS overwrote M$'s boot sector. > Syntax between grub.conf and grub.cfg is much different? Yes, vastly. > grub should probe OS to see windows? Invoke OS probe in grub. Well, grub is supposed to set up the boot sector to find the /boot partition and when the computer gets there tell it which partition to boot. At least that's how it used to work. Now things are much more complicated. So perhaps my question should have been, Does anyone know what is going on with grub these days? > Also... Were you in CSPGS when Cray was there? I'd prefer to work in nearly every DIY mechanics dream; a heated / air conditioned personal shop. When I retired I had a contractor build the shell of such a shop about 100 ft behind the house, I finished it out myself as a passive solar building, and its been great for the past 20+ years. Before retirement I worked for years on my carport, which wasn't bad, but having a place inside is a big advantage. My only regret is that I didn't build it bigger since about a third of the shop is a tiny apartment with toilet, shower, frig, microwave, bed and work benches for small stuff; electronics, computers, and such. My wish is that you, and everyone on the list who wants one, has that sort of shop eventually. Gerry It's pretty common for husbands to have a lot more spats with their wives after retirement since they're together full time, and I was no different. When the marital atmosphere turned chilly; maybe I got a spot of grease on her precious 240D; I would "live" in the shop for a day or two, and after that she would be sweet again. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. http://www.avg.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

BTDT in a W123 wagon. The wiring is frayed and needs to be addressed. You will need to remove the door panel to get at the wires through the grommet. There ought to be some "play" to allow you to at least inspect the wires that run through the grommet after gently tugging on them from aft.. [MBZ] White Whale Window Work
Dieselvolk, Yesterday during a Family Trip, my daughter rolled down a rear window on The White Whale (aka 124.193) but then it refused to go back up. We were traveling home on I-26 from some time in the Blue Ridge mountains, and at highway speeds that window needed to be up! I tried swapping window switches in the center console, but that didn't help. Checked voltages at the center console and at the door switch: ~12.8V at the center console, but only ~2.8V at the door switch! I manipulated the wires in the accordion joint and was able to make the voltage change, so looks like I need to replace some broken / breaking wires there. Re-installed the window switch and held it in the "up" position and was able to close the window by squeezing that according joint just right. Anyone already BTDT? I'm wondering if I can pull the harness through the joint to the interior side or the door side to make the repair. My suspicion is that pulling the harness to the interior side will be easier. - Max Charleston SC ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
