Yup. Running Android 8. It is very handy. There are a few other
apps that provide much the same function, but the ones I tried all
required connection to the internet to work. This one only needs
the 'phone and computer to be able to reach each other - no
internet needed.

Re: [MBZ] Can I reuse this hose fitting?

2018-09-02 Thread Larry Turner via Mercedes
Along with Oil Analysis Services, I also sell a few banjo fittings -- I
need the size to check & see what my supplier has.   I normally sell
Banjo fittings to be used with Weber Carbs, fuel pumps, pressure control
kits, etc.  We have both barb or AN fittings.   Our most common AN size
is -6

but if the hoses are professionally crimped/assembled better to do as
suggested.

A good hose shop will have all the right stuff to remove the crimp and save

They will also have the right hose to make up a replacement, and crimp it

The crimp sleeve will be cut off and the barbed feral inside the hose
saved, undamaged.
A new proper sized crimp sleeve will be put on that will hold the pressure
required...

Should be an easy "in and out" job..

I guess it's not unheard of in W201.
About ten years ago, when there was a 190D(t) on eBay about two miles from my

I actually started a reply that would answer "why" - but then
figured maybe I shouldn't presume. *smiles*

telnet uses tcp/ip.

RS-232 usually uses a terminal application - like hyperterminal on
MSWin or minicom on *nix.

It sounds like it uses telnet to load a program, so all it is
doing is file-fetching. Telnet would be a super simple way to do
that. Enter host and path and when the file is needed it is
fetched. But I'm largely guessing what it does.

> > I use telnet quite often - to allow me to use my computer

Yup, yup, yup. Around here ssh and rsync are used all the time.
To keep data synchronized on multiple machines I use "unison" -
which uses rsync as a backend.

How I use telnet is I have an app on the 'phone called "remote
keyboard" that is in my list of virtual keyboards. When I pick
it, it opens a port on the phone. I use my computer to telnet to
that port and then I can type text messages, or edit gps track
waypoints, or enter contact data by typing on a real keyboard -
not the tiny thing on the screen.

Thanks, Peter. I am so grateful for the dependability of my W123 wagon,
now with 365 k miles (drive train is considerably less traveled).

Cost is the same as an evaporator, it's in the same box and I don't think you
can take it out the front (although I have a dim memory that it may be possible
on the W201 chassis).

Typical problem is leaking 0-rings on the header seal, and corrosion from using
the wrong coolant is always possible.
