When I was assigned to a ship (early 90's), very rarely did we get to fire our gun on a range where the target was towed by a boat and the boat was crewed. They used a really long tow, and the safety measures took a long time and were very cumbersome, so the whole deal was rather anti-climatic.

If the garage isn't full of non-car stuff, 3 cars in a 2 car garage or 5 in a 3 car can be done without hoists. The extra cars go perpendicular in front of the daily drivers. Unfortunately, my '2 car garage' is only 20x22 and it's got a lot of non-car stuff in it, making it a one car garage.
