Hood bumpers are a common part. The gear shift cover is a reproduction, I
believe. I bought it from these guys:

www.mbclassics.de

I got engine mounts, a transmission mount, that gearshift bushing and cover, a
trunk seal and a set of “B” pillar seals from them for under $400 shipped to
the States. Placed the order Monday night our time, it arrived here this
afternoon. Their stuff is really high quality, too, I’m very pleased.

Ah yes, the gear shift lever bushing.   Every 111/110 I ever worked on
needed wunna them!   I don't know how many good accelerator pedal covers
I've thrown away. There never was any call for them when the cars were
only 15-30 yrs old.

I never knew the hood bumpers and the gear shift cover were still
available.  If you have a list of part numbers, hang onto it.  I may
need them next summer.

Yeah if it runs and drives well then it's a good deal, assuming the
interior isn't trashed.

If you're going to have battery backup, why not go with a pellet stove so you
don't have to depend on natural gas pipelines remaining intact?

The replacement built in units I am seeing have optional battery units so that
a person remains warm when the end of the world come at 9.4 richters. As long
as there is still pressure in your gas line. Better see about making it a dual
fuel thing and install a 100# tank

[MBZ] 92 500SL

2018-12-20 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
I have been communicating with this woman who has this SL in her
garage.  Apparently she or someone bought it for a boychild, who wrecked
it without having any insurance.  She had it listed for $2k as a running
but not driving wreck.  We chatted back and forth then she went dark.
The other day she asks if I still want it, she wants it gone.  I offer
$300 (I don't know why but I did, maybe for spares or something on this
SL I got), hear nothing back then she says her boy will take $1k.  I'm
sure, but not from me. I'll ping her again tomorrow, she can lay the law
down to the boy, I will take a little road trip and go get it

Melissa
Are you still interested? I really want it out my garage

I have been thinking about the car but I really can't see it at $2k. I
just bought a gorgeous 95 SL600 for $2300
, needs a
bit of suspension work but I ordered the parts, $160
, it will
be great once I get them on this week. I bought another one a few months
ago, a 99 E300 diesel for $500
, was
barely running -- an afternoon spent cleaning the EGR valve has it
running like a demon now. I don't want to insult you, but a wrecked Benz
like that is basically scrap, even though otherwise it is in great
shape, and I'm sure it was your baby and it is hard to part with. I'd
come get it and give you maybe $300
 for it,
it would be a parts car for me as it looks like fixing it up would cost
a lot more than it would be worth as these things are readily available
now for pretty cheap. Again, I really don't want to insult you but this
is kinda the reality of these cars, most people just don't want to fool
with them once they are past a certain age, and it costs a lot of time
and money. Again, I am not meaing to insult you, I appreciate you
keeping in touch, let me know what you want to do, I could come get it

We are getting rid of it for the engine/ transmission and that’s
basically that’s it. It only has 45,000 miles on it. I never drove it so
it’s not my baby . I’m tired of it sitting in my space and want it gone.
Bought for a kid they wrecked it before the insurance kicked in so here
it sits

So sorry it got wrecked. What do you want to do?

Melissa
I will ask him what he wants to do
Tue 11:02 AM
Any thoughts?

Certainly less than $1,000 based on your description. Would probably cost more
to make it whole again unless you were doing the work yourself.

Huh. Somehow the "writer" managed to sound like a snob and make that event
sound really lame. I'll bet it's a pretty fun time.
