Euro spec - but with DOT headlights? interesting.

Does the Euro "T" come with the self-leveling suspension? If so,
I wonder how that was handled during the lowering. The "rear gas
shocks" makes me wonder.

No photos of the engine bay.

Hah! Perfect - use only one input, but still get the mix to mono
without building any hardware.

The other though I had was to pre-treat your playlist by down
mixing to mono before loading on your player. That only works if
you have the files ahead of time.

Brings up an interesting question I have thought about.

All the MBs of any recent vintage are unibody cars, no separate
chassis. I guess you would have to build a fairly rigid chassis with
all the correct dimensions for power train, suspension points, etc. onto
which you could then drop a body of a size similar to your donor
dimensions. That would just basically entail taking your stripped body
and measuring all the XYZ dimensions for mounting points and
"receivers," then reproducing that with your new chassis. Pick
something that has a lot of cheap availability, a 124 or 210 or
something, as the donor vehicle. When I see these old pontons and
whatnot, even like these basket cases

Vintage 59' +58 Mercedes 220s Project in San Diego

https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/6805099593.html

I think about rat rods using modern Benz drivetrains and suspensions.
You can buy all that sort of thing, chassis and other bits, for older
merkin cars to upgrade to independent suspensions and such, any sort of
engine you want, then drop the body on it.

The market might be kinda limited but who knows, it would be a fun project.

Re: [MBZ] OT: Bespoke cars

2019-01-28 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes
Two ways of doing that:
Build your own tube chassis, and cut the floorpan off from the donor car and
use it for the basis of your frame. The problem with the floorpan approach is
that the structural rails on the sides put a minimum limit on the width, and
it's probably wider than your Adenauer body or whatever you're thinking of
using.

Re: [MBZ] OT: Bespoke cars

2019-01-28 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes

My tv is a UN65JU6500 and has had the problem almost the entire year. It is set
to auto-update and the current loaded version is 1530.

I already did a factory reset using a key combination in the remote control.
The CBSNEWS app loaded automatically after connecting the Internet and started
launching automatically after 1 minute when you turn it on. The only way to to
get out it is by pressing Source and selecting TV.

--

Well, there's your problem. "after connecting the internet".
If it worked when it was new, and a software update broke it, perform a factory
reset and don't let it connect to the internet again. That's what I did to my
dad's Element TV when it demanded I go to the computer and register/subscribe
to RokuTV then enter a confirmation code from the computer into the TV. If
running a software update makes your TV lock you out until you do what it
orders you to do, factory reset and never let it update again.

Since _December_ of last year. So, for 13 months now. I will look into
installing
that app. We have a 4 and a 3, I wasn't sure which one we'd like better so I
bought
one of each. (Two active TV's.) Both models were on the market at the time.
(Hate hate hate the Siri/touch remote on the 4, we universally use the TV's own
remote instead, which works too.)

That doesn't sound good. I'm sure there are enthusiast sites where you might
be able
to find out what it is. The things are matrix-scanned, so I would expect
problems like
this due to electronics to be full-width or full-height stripes of badness. If
it's a tube (?)
failure, who knows. I don't know if these panels are one volume, like a CRT,
or are
partitioned. If it's electronics, you could probably fix it. If it's the
panel...
