Fein. It may cost three times as much, but I can still hear myself think,
it sucks well and it has lasted a very long while now. No going back.
Separate fan for cooling the motor. Accessory outlet for dust collecting
plug in eg random orbital; turns the vac on when you turn the sander on.
And off again a few seconds after you switch the sander off. They are quite
a lot quieter than anything else, and the bearings dont howl after the
first year.

Let’s hope so.

That being said, I’m amazed at the number of eBay sellers that are hawking both
new and used stuff for the older cars, like my W111, for stupid money compared
to what you can buy things for from the dealer. Case in point, a trunk tristar
for my trunk lid new from the dealer is below $50.

You can find any number of new and used ones on eBay for well over $100.

There must be a market, or these sellers are just tossing the stuff out for no
listing fees hoping they’ll find a sucker.

Re: [MBZ] Heck of a deal on a shop vac

2019-03-29 Thread OK Don via Mercedes
I bought a 12 gal (or so) Shop Vac brand 10-15 years ago that worked OK
until the motor died three years ago. I bought a new with the removable
motor that converts into a blower (handy for cleaning the hangar floor) and
converted the canister part of the old vac into a pre-chamber for the new
vac. Now I have twice the capacity at the cost of two canisters and hoses
to move around. It really helps when being used as the dust/chip collector
for the planer or jointer.

Kia?
Oh, Jeez, buy one of my Cruzers before you let that happen.
The red one hit 17k miles this week, the metallic black one's sitting in the
garage at 2100mi.
Getting around 42-44mpg at 70mph now that temps are back up around 50.
Red one has no warranty and has been tuned to 200+hp, so that's Premium mpg.
Black one has 100k powertrain warranty instead of the standard 60k.

DAMN DAMN DAMN!

I am not headed there for a few more weeks. If it runs, I would be running
after that so I have a DD. Price is good. Would allow for continued care for
the w126 SDL. Good for me, I have cash in hand.

Nice that he has had it on the market for half a year. Might even allow for
tossing in a turbo 617.

Re: [MBZ] Heck of a deal on a shop vac

2019-03-29 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
LOLI had some cheap shopvac, I can't even remember the brand now but it was
pretty terrible. We took the dog for a walk one day and hadn't even left the
neigborhood when we passed a yard sale with a Rigid shopvac. I think I paid $5.
It sucks like an update to Windows 10. The only downside is its wicked loud but
for the price I can't really complain.

[MBZ] Heck of a deal on a shop vac

2019-03-29 Thread Kaleb C. Striplin via Mercedes
I was in the market for a shop vac and was at the local farm store today. It
appears they carry Craftsman brand. In the back of the store on the top shelf
they had a lone 12 gallon Shop Vac brand and it had a sign and sticker on it
for $49.99. The craftsman they had in the store that were 12 gal were all over
$100. Checking Walmart website the ones they had that were 12 gal were all
$75 and up. So this was a good deal. I figured they used to sell these and this
one was leftover or something when they started carrying craftsman. I pulled it
down and stuck it in my cart. I bought some other things such as bags of insect
killer granules for the yard. When I went to check out my total was only $64.
That did not seek right but OK. When I checked the receipt the Shop Vac rang up
$19 for huge 12 gallon one. Score!

That works well for washing machines, but the places from which the tabs
were cut will be holes to let in water and such on an automobile.

Re: [MBZ] Finnie Exhaust Work

2019-03-29 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Those are not the correct hangers for this car. They’re used on later models.
They are also for a smaller span between the hook and muffler, if I recall
correctly.

There is an R107 hanger that has wire embedded in it. Quite pricey, but you
never have to worry about one breaking and leaving your exhaust on the street.

Reminds me of that youtube video on how to change your FWD Ford's fuel pump:
Procure angle grinder.
Remove back seat.
Cut hole in floor.
R&R fuel pump.
Put the piece you cut out back in with some sheet metal, screws and glue.
Reinstall back seat.
