Lithium polymer.  The LiPo suction occurs when $140 is sucked right out of your 
wallet for each of the two 6700MAh batteries needed to run my Traxxas X-Max 
1/6th scale monster truck. I found some off-brand 6700MAh packs for half the 
price of the name brand Traxxas battery packs, so I bought two sets. They even 
came with an adapter that fits my plugs.

 Depends on what engine we're talking about. The straight sixes like the 232, 
258 and the 4.0l HO (which I think was the 232) were very robust and lasted 
forever. The v8s in the more recent stuff are just Chrysler engines. I've had 
excellent luck with them, my Dakota had the magnum 318 which was bulletproof at 
222,000 miles when the body was rusted out. My current 2010 RAM 5.7l has 
135,000 miles and has had nothing done to it, not even sparkplugs. I bought 
plugs to put in it but it runs perfectly so I've never bothered. There are 16 
of them and some look fairly painful.
The 4.xl V8s don't have a great reputation...

scarce and EXPENSIVE. They are the most expensive junkyard engines.   
Its probably not worth a crate engine.   A sbc may be an option, but 
probably not worth it. Probably time to sell it, lick his wounds and buy 
a old frod or dogde peekup.  (Or suggested exploder)

 I just picked up a gallon of "WoolWax" which is apparently similar to (and 
supposedly superior to) Fluid Film. The plan is to shoot both cars with the 
WoolWax. That should use the whole gallon so the pickup will probably get bar 
and chain oil.I'd like to keep cars longer and have fewer rust issues. I fear 
that on the pickup I've waited too long. Its 9 years old and starting to sprout 
rust...

I've drive the 300SEL quite a bit this summer.  With the exception of this
fan coupler issue, its been doing well.

I usually guess at it. My charger does have a storage charge setting, I don’t 
always have someone available to make sure it is on the right setting. If the 
battery takes an hour and a half to charge, I will just charge it 55 minutes or 
so. That usually works.

Now many of the hobby aircraft are run off Lion batteries though some 
hobbyists still use the fuel engines.  All the multi-copters (("drones") 
are because the electric power can be modulated to control the various 
rotors for speed, direction, etc.

Don't know about salt water, but submerging the whole car in a big tank 
of water is how they put out Tesla cars that catch fire.

OSLO (Reuters) - Norway’s first battery-powered aircraft crash-landed on a lake 
on Wednesday, in a setback for the country’s aviation strategy, although police 
said the pilot and passenger both escaped unhurt.
Photographs published by Norwegian media showed the Alpha Electro G2 plane, 
produced by Slovenia’s Pipistrel, nose-down and partly submerged at the end of 
a lake near Arendal in southern Norway.
The government has asked Avinor to develop a program for electrification of all 
domestic aviation by 2040.
“This is a start … but we have to make jet fuel a lot more expensive,” said 
Arild Hermstad, a leader of the Green Party.
