[MBZ] Silicon valley coronavirus Update #3

2020-03-12 Thread Curley McLain via Mercedes

Again, from my friend, who is highly placed at Stanford: SLAC

Silicon Valley Coronavirus update #3: I don't know where to begin. We
are one of the hotspots in the nation. We have community transmission
with exponential growth, locally. TSA workers in San Jose airport have
tested positive. Passengers from that cruise ship now docked in Oakland
have been transferred to a hotel in San Carlos, just down the street
from me. There is no traffic driving to and from work - I've been
driving 75 mph and the commute is less than half the time. Stanford is
doing classes and finals on-line. We have people just returned from
Europe and South Korea that are quarantined at home. Stanford hospital
has their own test, but won't look at you unless your fever is over 100
degrees. I have people in my directorate that are not taking this
seriously and seem more worried about continuing their work than saving
lives. NASA-Ames has their first case, and there are 3 cases amongst
Stanford faculty. None at SLAC yet, but it will happen soon. We are
encouraging work from home. John started working from home today and I
will start tomorrow, as will Tom (despite how much fun it is to actually
be able to DRIVE instead of crawl to work). The guy at Costco said you
had to be there the first 30 mins they were open to get toilet paper...I
admit that I have hoarded food. I am so so worried about my Dad. I feel
like I am living in a science fiction movie.

Note the date is 2016.   This was predicted.   We've had a "sky is
falling" event each year since y2k in 1999.   It has become a very
predictable pattern.  This particular event is not heavy on the #5 "one

particularly numbers 6 through 10.

Ebola, Swine Flu, Zika, SARS – The Anatomy of a False Flag Disease

Ebola-Swine-Flu-Zika-SARS-The-Anatomy-of-a-False-Flag-Disease-1

6th April 2016

ByPaul A. Philips

Guest writer forWake Up World

There’s no better example of the deceptive world we live in than
the/manufacture/of a disease. Epidemic or pandemic, whether it’s the
zika virus or others such as ebola, swine flu, bird flu, SARS… all these
diseases share a number of common repetitive patterns throughout their
deceptive histories.

So, here are 10 common repetitive patterns making up the anatomy of a
manufactured, ‘false flag’ disease.

**

   1. A disease outbreak suddenly finds its way into the spotlight of
   mass media attention.

Through unquestioning blind acceptance, going into agreement with the
general consensus through mass media spin the sheep-like public
immediately assume that the official authoritative view regarding the
disease outbreak is correct…

   2. Questioning at the early stages reveals suspicious circumstances.

Those not readily accepting the official view, able to think for
themselves, through questioning suspect that a deception may be at work:

For starters, something to immediately arouse suspicion at least at the
early stages of the scare is the fact that these diseases have existed
before and had only produced temporary mild feverish, flu-like
symptoms. So why the sudden epidemic outbreak of a so-called deadly virus?

   3. Unfounded assertions, errors and contradictions.

As with other false flag diseases, the zika deadly virus claim was found
by independent investigative journalists such as Jon Rappoport
to have a number of unfounded
assertions, irreconcilable errors and contradictions:

The first stage when proving that a particular virus is responsible for
an epidemic is to show its presence in every case or prove
overwhelmingly by percentage. But in the realm of a false flag disease
this doesn’t happen.

With, for example, the recent Zika pandemic outbreak In Brazil it was
discovered that there were 404 cases not the suspected 4783: Then only
17 of these 404 claimed cases could confirm the zika virus! But the
Brazilian authorities ignored this and just went onto falsely claim that
zika was responsible for microcephaly
 (children
born with abnormally small heads due to incomplete brain development).

Wasn’t this a case of bad science and bad lies? The Emperor has no clothes.

Then there was the case of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
Here’s some good armoury for your false flag/false claims detection kit.
Beware of 2 unreliable and untrustworthy tests: The PCR (Polymerise
Chain Reaction) and antibody tests.

As with other diseases these tests were used to falsely claim that Ebola
was responsible for the 2014 outbreak
.

The PCR test is prone to mis-identification and contamination errors as
it relies on growing such a tiny amount of viral fragment sample and can
only produce qualitative results not quantitative, meaning that it
cannot indicate whether or not a person has enough virus in them to get
sick…

The antibody test if carried out correctly (as this test is frequently
prone to errors) has the same problems in that it can only produce
qualitative results. It can only tell if the person tested has
antibodies for the specific virus. This would at least indicate that the
person had at one time contracted the virus. However, it cannot tell
whether or not the person presently has enough of the virus to get sick
or have any virus in them at all.

Thus in both cases highly questionable results have been used to
indicate sickness and disease.

Why does the Rockefeller Foundation hold a patent on the Zika virus

It will be clear well before November whether this is blown out of
proportion.

I happen to think it is, not because of any special knowledge but
because going back to the earliest virus panic I remember, which was the
swine flu in the mid 1970s, the news was always more dire than the
reality.

Also, as time has gone by the news has become infused with drama and
overt partisanship. This is further amplified now by social media.

But I may be wrong this time. We'll know soon enough.

While you're earnestly trying to "separate fact from fiction", every major
sporting event has been canceled or postponed, and the Smithsonian and
Kennedy Center in DC have closed their doors through the end of March.

I was told that all Fed government workers will be told to stay home and
telework starting Monday. Not sure that will happen everywhere, but
probably in DC. at the least

The hope is that growth in new cases slows or reverses course after these
draconian measures have been underway.

BTW, I am NOT saying it is not serious.  just trying to separate the
facts from the fiction.

There is a bit of the "boy who cried wolf" effect also and it is real.
Since 1999, every year we have had a "Sky is Falling" event every year.
So far, the sky is still above, and the sun comes up each day.

Xackly!    Why don't we shut down the mouse, the NBA and all the
tournaments every winter for the flu, which kills 30,000 to 60,000 each
year?    "IF WE COULD SAVE JUST  ONE LIFE"    that works for
everything else, except the flu, medical error, cancer, heart disease,
etc, that really kill real people.    Now, with 38 dead, and 2/3 of
those from one nursing home, the mediaocrats are hyping this as their
last hope to get a cranky old commie or a hopelessly befuddled old man
elected as prez.

I, for one, would much rather listen to Armed American radio or Big
Billy Kinder Outdoors on the radio rather than the endless fooball,
basketball and yes, even kollege baseball on the radio.   And what is
way worse, is the endless hours of 2 morons babbling for hours on end
about nothing, so long as it related to some team or some player, or
their brother's mother in laws uncles kid.

This is actually real. Very contagious, more so that flu (3.5 persons infected
on average by every contagious person) and a death rate from 2 to 5%, heavily
skewed to older (60 +) individuals.

Serious disease rate is around 20% -- that, requiring hospitalization.

China managed to stop it by putting the entire population of some fairly large
cities essentially on house arrest

My personal estimation is that a very large number of people are already
infected in the US, this particular disease is at the exponential increase
stage since we are doing essentially nothing to control it yet, with the
potential to infect a million or so people, put 200,000 extra people in the

moving and stop the spread.

If we don't figure millions infected, tens of thousands of extra deaths,

sorts of other things, and a MAJOR economic recession.

Gonna be a rough one -- in fact, the major outbreak of novel disease many

I've been trolling most of the day trying to figure out just how serious this
thing is.
Bloomberg, which is usually pretty accurate, says the stock market is the
lowest since the 1987 bust, and that the chances of a recession are 80 percent.
Probably 90-95% of large gatherings nationwide have been closed down. Air

Some of this is obviously panic and hype, but IMO most of it is valid. I would

If you’ve never been to Orlando, you can’t begin to grasp how much literally

If you go aftermarket (e.g. FCP) try to find out where the parts are made.
Brand names (e.g. LEMFÖRDER, Mahle, etc.) don't seem to mean much anymore.
But parts made in EU should be OK.

[MBZ] Source for 124 front lower control arms?

2020-03-12 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Driving the $500 '94 wagon this morning, I realized that the front end is
making too many clunks, I'm guessing that at 195k miles the front
suspension is ripe for overhaul. Front struts are shot, car floats like
big GM iron from the 70s and 80s.

Are any of the aftermarket worth a look, or should I bite the bullet and
get them from a dealership?

[MBZ] OT: Prepare for fewer empty plane flights

2020-03-12 Thread Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes
FAA waives rules that led airlines to fly empty planesPublished: Thursday,
March 12, 2020

Federal regulators waived a rule yesterday that was causing airlines to fly
nearly empty planes just to avoid losing takeoff and landing rights at
major airports.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it would suspend the rule through
May 31 to help airlines that are canceling flights because of the new
coronavirus outbreak.

The FAA assigns takeoff and landing rights, or "slots," at a few big,
congested airports. Airlines must use 80% of their highly coveted slots or
risk forfeiting them.

The slot-use rule has led to the phenomenon of "ghost flights" — big planes
flying around with eerily empty cabins. Environmental activists called on
regulators to waive the rule to limit carbon emissions from planes carrying
few passengers.

The FAA's decision affects flights at John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia
airports in New York and Reagan Washington National Airport outside
Washington.

The FAA said it also would not punish airlines that cancel flights through
May 31 at four other airports where the agency approves schedules:
Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, Newark Liberty International
Airport in New Jersey, Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco
International Airport.

The FAA waiver covers U.S. and foreign airlines. The agency's announcement
came a day after the European Commission promised to move quickly to waive
its similar rule.

The president of United Airlines said it was crazy to enforce the slot-use
rule in the middle of a virus outbreak that has devastated demand for air
travel.

"Flying empty airplanes to protect slots? How ridiculous is that?" the
official, Scott Kirby, said during an investor conference Tuesday. *— David

Sounds scary but (to date) there are only 39 deaths in US and most of those
were from one nursing home in Seattle area.

[MBZ] OT: Corona virus deaths in Iran vastly understated

Coronavirus burial pits so vast they’re visible from space Iranian
authorities began digging a pair of trenches for victims just days after
the government disclosed the initial outbreak. Together, their lengths are

* Two days after Iran declared its first cases of the novel coronavirus —
in what would become one of the largest outbreaks of the illness outside of
China — evidence of unusual activity appeared at a cemetery near where the
infections emerged. At the Behesht-e Masoumeh complex in Qom, about 80
miles south of Tehran, the excavation of a new section of the graveyard
began as early as Feb. 21, satellite images show, and then rapidly expanded
as the virus spread. By the end of the month, two large trenches — their
lengths totaling 100 yards — were visible at the site from space. According
to expert analysis, video testimony and official statements, the graves
were dug to accommodate the rising number of virus victims in Qom. *

We used to have a “Rocketman” on the old lists. A very sage and knowledgeable
contributor whose comments often ended up on the “Quotes” page.

I have often wondered what happened to him. I don’t believe anyone ever met him

Yeah, that’s one of the “smart” pumps. They can be opened and serviced. No
electronics to speak of if they like the W140 and W210 versions, but some
contacts that can be adjusted to control state change (pressure/vacuum) and
high/low pressure/vacuum thresholds.

Lots of info on BW on these as I recall.

South Korea experts recommend anti-HIV, anti-malaria drugs for COVID-19

March 12 (UPI) -- South Korean disease experts have begun to recommend the use
of a combination of antiviral and anti-malaria drugs for patients of the new

Kwon Jun-wook, deputy head of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, said Thursday at a regular press briefing the recommendations come
from multiple groups, and that the government is ready to apply the
recommendations to patients "where necessary," Newsis reported.

Re: [MBZ] OT guns on sale too!

2020-03-12 Thread Scott Ritchey via Mercedes
The stripped lower receiver is the serial-numbered part, which the ATF treats
as a gun, so it must be shipped to a licensed, in-state gun dealer (the kit can
be shipped to your door). That dealer will charge a fee ($20-40 typical) for
the federal "instant" background check and Form 4473 (plus whatever your state
requires) when he transfers the lower receiver to you. Same as buying any
other gun.

The upper receiver/barrel in the kit is already assembled, which is good
because you would need a few special tools to assemble one and alignment is
critical (e.g. headspace).

Assembling the lower receiver is not hard, maybe an hour the first time (and 10
minutes after that). The main thing is not to lose any of the small parts that
are under spring pressure, like the detents for the takedown and pivot pins.
There are many good instructional videos online but I like to print a set
instructions so I can consult them as I go. Here is one tried-and true set:
https://www.ar15.com/guides/files/tutorials/assembly/lower/index.html?gid=183

The hype about AR-15s is as bad as COVID-19, or worse. AR-15 is a standardized
design (interchangeable parts from many suppliers) at a reasonable cost. Some
brands are better than others but you will never notice unless you shoot
thousands of rounds. Anybody who can work on a Benz can build and maintain one
(Mercedes content). The AR-15 is easy to shoot, especially compared to a real
battle rifle (30-06 or .308). Ammo is cheap and less powerful than any deer
rifle. There are many, many reasons why it is the most popular rifle in the
US. I assume it is vilified for the same reason: there are so many of them.

Looks like this pump was common to all the 124 cars as well as others.

There was an early Hella 126 pump that was quite stupid, but I've only ever
seen one of those. As one might expect, the diaphragm on the snap switch
failed. The later pumps are bidirectional motor/pumps, with electronics. Far
fewer moving parts.

I ask because the “dumb” pumps don’t have any logic, just a pressure actuated
snap switch that reverses rotation, changing from vacuum to pressure and
vice-versa. If the pressure switch fails the pump is more or less junk.

[MBZ] 124 central locking system fun

2020-03-12 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Last night I had some time to diagnose the central locking system (CLS) on
the '94 E320 wagon that Floyd helped me "rescue" a couple months ago.

The LF door lock, when turned with the key to lock or unlock, would
physically lock that door, but no activation of the CLS. The RF door, upon
locking, would activate the CLS but just cycle to lock and then immediately
back to unlock state. The tailgate would lock and then go into a loop of
locking and unlocking and locking.

I tested the signals that each door lock is sending to the CLS pump
'brain', and indeed each lock is sending the correct ground or power
signal. I can only conclude that the CLS control circuit, which I suspect
is integral to the pump, is the faulty component. Maybe a re-cap is in
order?

There is a local couple here on the Island who are a band called Shovels and
Rope. They were doing a European tour, I saw the woman at the library a few
weeks ago, she said they were going to be gone until sometime in April. They
are really sweet kids so I was happy for their success and exposure there.

Talking to a friend yesterday who plays with her in another band a bunch of
women have, she said they had to come back last week and cancel the rest of the
tour which was going to Italy and wherever else. They had been in UK, France,
and Germany and maybe a coupla other countries.

This involves the loss of several hundred thousands $$$ in revenues and such
and a big hit to them on their income, and that of the whole circus associated
with their tour and business. I guess they’ll be OK but it is Not Fun for them.

They put on a big festival here every year in late April, I hope that doesn’t
get canceled as it is always a wonderful event, great bands and nice crowd.
I’ll see her Saturday evening at another little show here, will get the latest
word.

I'm exercising my 2nd amendment, and it feels great. These AR-style rifles
have an action which really reduces recoil, so teaching the next generation

Re: [MBZ] Really, really bad timing by the DOE

2020-03-12 Thread Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes
Back in the 70s when we had the “oil shortage” I had a friend who worked for
BATX (I think it was called), company that owned a lot of tank cars and storage
facilities and such. He told me they had zero capacity to store or move any
more oil or refined products as all their tanks and tank cars were completely
full, tankers sitting on sidings everywhere they could park them. Producers
were holding product waiting for the prices to go up to where they could make
huge profits, which eventually they did.

It was the Jimmuh Cahtah MEOW (Moral Equivalent Of War) gas line alternating
purchase days... I miss him so much, he was the best president ever!

Lord only knows with this pack of morons. A bunch of staunch conservatives in
their own minds but rabid socialists when it comes to having government hand
out cash for any and all civic or social needs as well as to attempt to get
anything done. AOC and Burnie would love it.
