medicare will have collapsed upon itself by then. Guess between vacations, paid

I thought that San Francisco was unique in that 20-30 years ago.
Haven't thought about it lately.
Have a relative who moved out of state, severed all ties to live as a
man among people who had no idea who she was, and spent a fortune on a
female to male conversion (it's apparently way more expensive to make a
penis than to remove one). Couldn't figure out why (s)he didn't move to
SanFran and apply for a municipal job, since (s)he was leaving the state

I'd gladly ride the back of a San Francisco garbage truck if it meant
not paying for all those operations.

2020-11-20 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
The 500 is pretty stout, I wonder what issues it has. Probably rather
neglected with 200kmi, random issues.  It would be a good hauler if it
actually runs and is not a total POS.  Rip out all those seats and just
make it a utility vehicle, roomier than a ML.

I'm getting around 17mpg in mixed driving in the ML500, which is not
entirely bad.  I would guess this thing would be similar

Re: [MBZ] Update on Hildegard, 1982 240D

2020-11-20 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
They need a copy of the factory service manual, and they need to properly
adjust (and perhaps repair) all the throttle linkages first. If they can't
do that, you'll need to take the car to a garage that can do that. The
service manual is free online (but painful to use to get to the proper
pages).

https://www.startekinfo.com/docs?cat=MB%20Workshop%20Resources

I do hope, for your sake, that they have not tried to adjust the pump
timing!

Very very rarely is the problem in the injection pump. Usually a rough
idle is due to a bad injector or two, unbalanced injectors, valves out of
adjustment, or a leak in a fuel line allowing air into the system. Rough
idle at start-up (while engine is below operating temperature) can also be
caused by a bad glow plug or two.

The only parts of the injection pump that may contribute to a rough idle
are the delivery valves. The copper sealing rings (and perhaps the
springs) need to be replaced every hundred thousand miles or so. I would
not trust anyone other than a certified Bosch shop or a long-time Mercedes
Diesel mechanic to attempt this job, because if you screw it up, the pump
needs to be removed from the car for adjustment, rebuild, or replacement.

Actually, it’s 20mm to get a 10mm clearance. There’s a hole in the middle that

Some people only read the first sentence, or maybe just the first few words
in the first sentence, and then reply to that.

I used to compose long emails, lay out the situation, develop my point, and
then either ask the question or make the pitch.

Now I write one sentence up front that asks just one question (ask too many
questions and you won't be sure which question they are answering with
"ok") or makes just one statement, and then maybe I'll lay out the
situation. If I have more then one question, they get separated into
multiple emails, or I make a phone call.

the doors. Window rubber looks OK.

The vinyl upholstery on the passenger door has a tear. The driver's

Drivers

The dash is wood, not sure if original or someone put that in. In any

Re: [MBZ] It runs but has sat in a garage for approx. 15 years so just needs some bugs worked out.

Congrats on your new toy.
Sounds like fun.
I just remembered, one of my HS English teachers, married to a college
English teacher, had a white Transporter and a chalky red Ghia. I'm
guessing the transporter was around 1970 and assumed the Ghia was older.
I'm not sure which was whose, they seemed to drive either one randomly,
but I think the Ghia was parked at the HS at least 60% of the time.
