[MBZ] Benzing today

[Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes]

I changed the front and rear diff fluids on the ML this afternoon. Not too 
difficult but the rear fill plug was not real easy to get the torx in. A little 
wobble extension did the trick. The old stuff was kinda nasty after 15yr and 
127kmi. 

I used the pump that Dan suggested, worked great. Good idea, thanks. 

The front shaft had a little bit of rotational play in it. I think it is in the 
diff not the transfer case although I guess it would be hard to tell, maybe 
they are both loose. That’s probably where the clunk is coming from. I’ll see 
if the fluid makes any differential difference. Diff diff. 

Oh, and it was 82F today!  Lovely being outside working on thanksgiving day in 
short trousers and sleeves.

Just remember the base config has the 1600x900 TFT, and the 1920x1080 
IPS is an extra $70.
I still wasn't able to push it to the $599 mark to use the 5% off coupon 
(but I didn't like the prices on any of the drive options and was 
sticking with the SSD only). There's a 15" with 16GB and an i7 for $529, 
but I think that one ends tonight.

No, sorry. I have replaced the parts of the serpentine belt system, but
the thermostatic fan clutch is good (at least I think so!).

Yes, a floor shifter was optional.

This is not an “S-Class”, it’s a W110 which is the basic entry level model. 
Very nice example without seeing the underside, but definitely not an S-Class 
which would justify the price if it was.

[MBZ] OM 60x fan clutch question

Meyle Behr?

THe behr part give me confidence.   THe meyle part makes me think it is 
the same as chinesium junk ACM "clutch" that does not clutch.


or febi Bilstein?   Febi is also know to sell chinesium   Same 
conundrum.



Anyone have recent experience with either?

MB wants $250 to $350 for "remanufactured" OE.
