Yes they did, yes I bought one, and yes I was able to mount a second drive (m.2
SSD, $50 for a Crucial 500GB version).

Touch screen would be more better.  I'm very happy with the speed of the i5
processor and 12GB of RAM.  Oh well, I didn't see any point in waiting but
patience is a virtue...

Yep, 28-30mpg, 0-60 in 23s on my watch.
Coolant was black. It might have had a bad head gasket the entire time
he owned it, it was about 3 years old when he bought it.

One time I was sitting at a stop light in the left lane, a Pontiac 6000
came up behind me, changed lanes and stopped beside me. It was a diesel.
When the light turned green, I gave it enough gas to easily put dad's
Ciera away. It jumped in front of me, slammed on the brakes and turned
left, exactly the maneuver I anticipated and tried to block. So they
could be much faster than a 240d, but ours was not. The rebuilt IP
changed performance not in the slightest.
I think road tests were around 16s 0-60. I'm sure my Citation could have
easily beaten him if I'd tried harder, I had him beat by 5hp and 700lb.

Re: [MBZ] Actually worked on a Benz today

2020-11-30 Thread OK Don via Mercedes
IIRC, I blocked off at least half of the radiator in the W115s in the
winter. I found that a cereal box opened up was the right size.

Re: [MBZ] OT Welding machine advice

2020-11-30 Thread Jim Cathey via Mercedes
I welded this weekend using the Millermatic 175, with gas. We have a chinesium
gazebo
frame that collapsed under snow, bent it all, kinked one spar nearly in half,
and popped
three welds. I figured it was less work to fix it than to buy another and
install it, so I just
hit it with the welder. Didn't even grind off the paint, just burned through
it with the welder.

No, the welds don't look very good, but they're holding. Gas with MIG really
does work
a lot better than flux-core. But, the flux-core seems to work better than gas
when it's windy.

Buy one of each! It's fun!

With a torch, my first welding purchase, you get all the welding abilities,
including other
metals like aluminum, lead, and copper, and you can solder and braze, and heat,
bend,
cut, and remove rusted fasteners with ease. I have used it to eliminate
hornets too.
It can be slow and the consumables are not particularly cheap any more, but it's
extremely versatile. There's not much that can stand up to 6,000 degree heat!

I routinely blocked off the entire radiator in the W115 200D Frankenheap using
a square of cardboard.
Kept it that way most of the winter. (It was my winter beater with a heater.)

Weird, I've never had trouble with our '03, even down to -10f. I'm sure if have
heard of it if Angie didn't have heat...

Driving if 4th may help, but that tends to kill the milage, and if I'm only
gonna get 40 mpg I might was well drive the 300D and get 30 AND heat.
