I'd say "yes" on the IRA, and make it a Roth IRA so the withdrawals are tax free (in retirement).  Also, because he's paying income tax on the contributions, the rules for a Roth give you the option of withdrawing the contributions with no penalty or additional taxes if needed.  Best of both

I love our old 03 Tacoma. It has the cyl with over 5K miles and no leaks. The AC even works without any refills yet. The only thing is that it gets about 20 mpg. The new one a TRD Sport with the 6 cyl gets 25 and better on the road so that is the one we use the most for trips to Orlando
