It is more than a little slop at this point so that is what I want to resolve. I know they have a bit of play but this one is getting a little concerning after 350k or 400k miles. If it goes another 50k tighter that should be good at least another 20years at the rate I drive it. --FT Sent

I bought this pretty nice 04E500 recently for $900, the transmission is in limp mode, although one time I drove it the thing shifted OK, weird.  Code seems to be for conductor plate.  It has airmatic but is not a 4matic, it is throwing a code for the RR shock but it seems to be working OK,
