Could it be bad gas?
The 450SL had a full tank of no ethanol and sat alone since 2019. I am back
home and took her out for a spin. Cold running is perfect, but once we get up
to temp, she gets the vapors and seems to have massive flattus when the go fast
pedal is applied.

Make an offer anyway. Nothing to lose.

I do have a 300D (turbo) that could be an engine donor. However the
seller never answered my inquiry about the car.

If you have both cars available (the engine donor and the 240D into which
the OM617 is going), the job is not too bad. I

Nobody, at least not yet! Got the paperwork straight, drive the car for a year

Why buy a stripped truck? My 2002 F150 Supercrew was a Lariat and thus
pretty loaded. I bought it used, in late 2006 with 90K miles on it and
drove it until I bought the 2013 Supercrew in late 2013. By then it had
180K miles on it. I gave it to my son who put another 60,000+ miles on
it before
The other day I was sitting waiting to get on a busy road after picking
up the $500E420 and noticed that about 80% of the vehicles that drove by
in that short time were black, a few white and silver, and one red. Was
weird.

I think you can buy used U-haul pickups. Pretty basic, rubber mats, etc. I
looked around on the site, but I didn't find anything. Perhaps they are sold
out. Enterprise has a few trucks for sale.
