It was bad, and badly installed. Since its trunk lid needed repainting anyway, I removed it and welded over the holes first. From the outside, you never knew it had been there. Possibly, depending on what you consider a nightmare. I’ve done it. Not fun and rebuilding all of the cylinders will set you back probably $800 or more, which is a bargain compared to replacing them with new. Figure a day to get them out and a day to install them. It’s nothing that requires a great deal of skill or special tools, but it’s really involved and just takes a lot of time to do. First generation R129s should be avoided at all costs, in my opinion. They have a collective pile of bad issues you simply don’t want to deal with.
