The new Dune is just as long as the '84 version but ends about a third of the way through the story. It looks like the first episode of a trilogy or mini-series but I see nothing online about follow-on episodes. I found the book confusing when I first read it back in the '60s but the book has several appendices that explain things. Several times I stopped reading the main story to read the relevant appendix. I think Dune could be a good series (more than 3 episodes) but it is (IMO) foolhardy to try to tell the whole story in a movie. There were several other sequel and prequel books based on Dune. Some better than others. In our case Mrs. Dan had gone through all the motions with this employer, interviewed in person, signed an offer, etc., etc. We spoke to our attorney to see if we could get some relief, even though Kohler covered a portion of our moving costs. He suggested he contact them about recovery of (some) costs as we really had nothing to lose. He later said they must have been concerned about litigation, as they simply threw a number at him and didn’t even ask for an estimate of costs. He asked for a bit more, they split the difference. This happened to Mrs. Dan years ago and actually worked out quite well for us… When I was recruited by Kohler and we moved up to WI, Mrs. Dan worked with a recruiter who landed her a job at a major banking institution. She got all the requisite onboarding letters through her headhunter, etc. She showed up for work the first day and got shuffled into a conference room with the hiring manager, an HR person, and a higher up from management. The higher up apologized profusely and said that they were rescinding the offer of employment as the hiring manager (apparently) had not gotten the proper approvals to hire her. And that was that. A quick call to our attorney dispatched a letter to the bank’s HR and Legal departments with copies of all the related correspondence, relating that a cross-country move was involved on her part and that she had incurred expenses to relocate for the position. Negotiations between our attorney and the bank commenced shortly after they received the letter. In my experience with a VW you're coming up on your first refill. Mine alerts just about every oil change which is 10,000 miles on that car. Somehow I managed to get mine off cycle so it usually alerts about 3,000 miles in from an oil change now.
