[MBZ] 210 Radiator
Got the old radiator out which took a bit of doing. With the lower support pushed up, it was basically pinching the sides of the radiator and it took a bit to work it out. That and the intercooler was a little bit of a hassle to deal with. The support was not really bent backwards but was more just pushed up. Took a big sledge hammer and a long piece of metal to bang it back down enough to the start banging the sides back down flat which pushed it back into place. Did not have to use the porta power to straighten anything. New radiator was in and its a bit of a hassle getting the intercooler and condenser all line up and in place with the radiator, but not too bad. Pulled a vacuum and filled with my vacuum filler. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

For the upper story remodel done two decades ago, the shower was 48x72, 4” lip, no door, slate wall, hex floor (to match the flavor of original main bath of 1927). Heated floor and second drain in the main part of the room, in case a corpse happened to cover the shower drain and water overflow the lip. Not airplane part cost. Sounds like the shower that was in the 4,000 sf place we owned in Indiana. The kids called it the “party shower” because it was so big. Baseball home plate shape like yours, two shower heads on opposite walls and “body sprays” down the wall below the shower heads. I’ve never had an experience like showering in that one. Re: [MBZ] Carpet cleaning
I got this one (link below). Watched some youtuber car detailers who used it on some really nasty interiors (and wheels and stuff too, would probably be good on greasy engines), and some germaphobe mommy who used a lot of the attachments for various cleaning tasks in the house. There’s a smaller version too that would probably be fine but this one has a larger tank capacity and a coupla more attachments. It came up to pressure pretty quick and blasted a lot of steam even after I shut it off. On larger areas I’ll try the triangular attachment. I used the small nozzle this evening. It has a flow adjustment in the hand-held piece. I did hit the seat tracks just a bit in the front by the carpet with the steam too and that blasted out a lot of schmutz. McCulloch MC1385 Deluxe Canister... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G00BTEA I got this brush kit, it also has a bunch of scrubbing and polishing pads, some scotchbrite kind of abrasive pads. Fits on a drill. Holikme 25Piece Drill Brush... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8FDKD3 There are a bunch of different kinds, some more floor carpet cleaning-oriented but this one seems to have a lot of different uses. DanP got one that is different but he said it worked well (and was cheap used off FB or something). Re: [MBZ] OT - Master bathtub
Our house came with a home plate shaped jetted tub. The jets spewed red an black gunk regardless of how much we tried to clean them, so we had it removed. There was a separate shower in the bathroom as well. We had the tub replaced with a shower for two with a full complement of geezer bars, a seat, and shower heads at the appropriate height for each of us (6' and 5'4"). The step under the glass door is about 2". It is very nice after a bout of bed exercise, scrubbing each other's backs, and has been a lifesaver when we've (each) broken bones. plenty of room for one to wash the other while they are incapacitated. It is made from the same DuPont stuff that Corian countertops are made of, custom made to fit the space, custom colored to our specs. It was so expensive that I've blocked the price from my memory - think airplane parts. Re: [MBZ] OT - Master bathtub
Neighbors redid their master bath. Shower has a labyrinth entrance, no door or threshold whatsoever. You need a bit of extra room to pull that off, however. Lots of tile to clean! My shower is small-ish, but has the usual 4" threshold and a glass door. Only geezer-ish feature is a full-width seat in it, which I've actually been glad of a couple of times. But I'm not in full geezer territory yet, I don't think. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] OT - Master bathtub
My considered opinion on the issue is, the installation of a modern "walk in tub" would be much more practical. Choose one that can be used as a shower, or a tub, with a low threshold to step over. If you so choose, you can sit down and shower [or shave your legs, if you are so inclined], or use it as a standing shower. When it comes time to resell your house [eventually] the walk in tub feature offers an additive to older buyers, and not an unreasonable distraction to younger buyers. The footprint is only slightly larger than a standard shower, and not nearly as large as the "luxury tub" that takes up space and doesn't get used. Cost wise, shop wisely. Re: [MBZ] OT - Master bathtub
I built my addition with a large master (oops, can’t say that now) bedroom and bath with 2 sinks, one at either end, a 6ft soaker whirlpool tub (I’m tall) and a 4x5 walk in shower with a similar-sized WC. I use the tub when it’s cooler, it’s nice after a day’s work or long bike ride. Probably not necessary but I wanted it and designed the space for it because why not. 90gal hot water tank for kitchen and banõ, it’s nice to have all that hot water for the occasional indulgence plus I think stand-by losses are smaller. Tub has an in-line heater in the pump to keep the water warm when it is running. I had to replace the WH in the original part of the house and have the same 90gal. The walk-in shower has a 2” threshold and glass door. If building again I would make it a sloped up/down sort of thing, no stepped threshold under the door, for easier entrance/exit in geezerdom, and big enough for a wheelie. This would have been better too when I broke my leg 3yr ago as I had to use a walker (!!!) for maybe 3wk and it was a bit awkward getting In/out of the shower. And that first shower after a week of denial and pain was heavenly sitting on a warm seat and draining that 90gal HW tank! I put a corner seat in the shower too which helped immensely. Oh, and two sprayers, one on a slided and detachable hand-held, and a 3 sprayer car wash feature in one wall because why not. I actually like this feature. A 3-way selector let’s any 1 or 2 be used at the same time. Good for washing the poodles too. Floors are tiled, I put electric heat in floor (in shower especially) and under the shower seat. It’s really nice in winter. —FT Sent from my iPad > On Nov 13, 2021, at 6:33 AM, dan penoff.com via Mercedes > wrote: > > Agreed about the tub, totally unnecessary. > > We have a “soaking tub” in our house, no jets, but it’s never used. Re: [MBZ] OT - Master bathtub
Agreed about the tub, totally unnecessary. We have a “soaking tub” in our house, no jets, but it’s never used. I can fold up and fit in it, but not stretch out, so I see no value. Mrs. Dan has mobility issues, so it’s difficult for her to get in/out of it. We have a walk in shower which we use for our washing needs. It does have a glass door and a threshold to step over, but it’s only a few inches high. We also have the sit-down vanity space, but it’s not used as such. One thing I think is a great modern design feature of master bathrooms is the sectioning off of the toilet in a separate room. That allows multitasking with the space in general so it’s not tied up completely by someone on the throne. Clay, will your retirement abode be in the lower 48? -D > On Nov 12, 2021, at 9:48 PM, Clay via Mercedes wrote: > > I am taking a very slow train to learning residential architecture the > autodidact way. Re: [MBZ] I wonder how much of a turd this is?
Believe it or not, Mercedes had stock on the W111 white steering wheels when I was restoring the 65 220SEb. They were closing out the stock and had discounted them down to around $500. I bought one for it, as they had been around $1200 list. I think Jaime and I cleaned them out. -D > On Nov 12, 2021, at 11:27 PM, Clay via Mercedes wrote: > > Those white wheels used to command large sums on the Bay of Fleas back in > the day.
