Re: [MBZ] Renault Dauphine Deluxe 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE,$6,500
I seem to recall the water jacket or cooling system to be wonky. I know my sister came home from school one day having run the engine dry, and my Dad came home form the office (it was just a mile or two away) and was running out to the car with buckets of hot water and pouring them into the cooling system. I think the car had to go to our resident mechanic, who replaced all the seals in the cooling system for a paltry sum. My memory is pretty cloudy on this, but that’s what I recall. Just visions of Dad in a suit, tie and hat, running back and forth between the shop and the car with buckets of water. It was pretty comical (to me) at the time. I don’t think he was terribly happy about it, though. -D > On Mar 15, 2022, at 12:59 PM, OK Don via Mercedes > wrote: > > A friend had one when we were in high school. Re: [MBZ] Renault Dauphine Deluxe 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE,$6,500
As an exec with GM, my Dad got all sorts of weird stuff from their (often) failed efforts at importing cars. The Dauphine was one example, the others I recall were an Opel Kadett and a Vauxhall wagon from the early 1960s. My long-suffering mother had to drive these cars (my sister got the Dauphine) and she thrashed them gleefully. My Mom was a raucous driver and loved driving a manual transmission. She hated slushboxes, and had a heck of a time as she aged trying to find cars that were still available with a manual transmission. -D > On Mar 15, 2022, at 11:33 AM, G Mann via Mercedes > wrote: > > If I recall correctly, the local dealer sold them for $1,400 out the door > with a full tank of gas. > > > On Tue, Mar 15, 2022 at 8:26 AM dan penoff.com via Mercedes < > mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > >> Heh. 32 years old, and only driven 571 miles per year, per the mileage listed. The owner must live 250 miles away from the only V12 Jag mechanic.. ;)) Perfect color combination, however.. Heh. My sister had one of these courtesy of my Dad and his program car stuff through GM. Hers had the funky pushbutton transmission, which as a young boy with hard core mechanical desires fascinated the heck out of me. It was a cool little car and something different from the constant flow of VW Beetles that came through the household. -D > On Mar 15, 2022, at 10:43 AM, Floyd Thursby via Mercedes > wrote: > > The rare 1962 collaboration between the French and the Germans wherein the > French immediately surrendered > > https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2309105309237479 > > -- > --FT > > > ___ > http://www.okiebenz.com > > To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > > To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: > http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
