We used to use this https://www.lowes.com/pd/A-O-Smith-AO-MF-B-Single-Stage-GAC-Under-Sink-Water-Filtration-System/1000576419 under the kitchen sink for both cold and hot water (stainless steel canister for the hot) when we were drinking city water. It was great, you can choose what you want to filter for - particles, chlorine, etc. IIRC, we changed the filters once a year. We now have two 20 inch tall fitlers with graduated particle filters - down to 1 micron in the well house - so all of our water is filtered. Taste wasn't an issue here - the water is great. Again, Mom needs to get on board. Internet access is a serious carrot to dangle - I used my router like a “treat jar” when my kids were that age. "Oh, you want to play Call of Dooty? Access denied until your chores are done.” Amazing how quickly things can get done when one is motivated. Granted, your absence doesn’t make this easier, but in reality it’s all the more important since it shifts even more onto Mom when you’re gone. Dad’s on the road, so step up and help out. Floyd and I are speaking from years of experience and can vouch for the outcome. It’s a positive one, despite what a pain in the butt it can be on the front end. -D > On May 29, 2022, at 6:04 PM, Floyd Thursby via Mercedes > wrote: > > Stop feeding him until he starts doing his chores. Re: [MBZ] G05 vs G49 vs G40 PEAK Blue jooz
PEAK is the stuff I got, it seems to only come "pre-diluted" It is an "HOAT" coolant which is Hybrid Organic Acid Technology. Your BMW, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Audi or Volkswagen uses an HOAT coolant. HOAT coolants are derived from OAT coolants with the addition of silicate to protect aluminum surfaces. Many components of your BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen engine and cooling systems are made of aluminum including the cylinder heads and radiators. OAT coolants do not use silicate and phosphate corrosion inhibitors. These coolants have an extended service life and are designed for 150,000 miles of service (or 5 years). Although it should be noted that German Auto Center and most manufacturers recommend flushing or changing the coolant every two years. https://www.germanautocenter.com/blog/what-coolant-is-right-for-my-german-automobile/ G-05 at $24/gal undiluted at AA would be $12/gal as opposed to the blue stuff at $19. It says it it HOAT but it is not blue. h And they honor the discount codes on it, 20% off so that knocks off almost $5/gal, not a bad deal! --FT I'm not sure what other kinds there are https://www.amazon.com/PEAK-Extended-Prediluted-Antifreeze-European/dp/B08PNN4163?th=1 On 5/29/22 4:36 PM, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes wrote: Yes I believe that is correct g05 is no longer specified. Re: [MBZ] Martha Musings
Something else I wanted to include in this and forgot…. If you ever need to remove a Mercedes air bag from the steering wheel, there’s a great factory tool that makes it really easy: 126 589 00 10 00 It’s Torx T30 bit with a hex end that you can get a 1/4 drive socket/ratchet on. If you’ve never removed an air bag, it’s a real PITA unless you have a short T30 Torx wrench, that is, one that can fit between the back of the steering wheel and the instrument panel. If the wrench is skinny, you’ll have a tough time getting it centered in the opening for the fastener and landed in the socket of the bolt. This bit is under $10 from the dealer and fits all Mercedes air bag bolts, so it’s not a single model sort of tool. I finally broke down and bought one because I needed to remove the air bag on the ML550 to replace a button set for the telematics, and believe me, it made the job so easy and quick I kick myself for not getting one of these a long time ago. -D/Martha > On May 29, 2022, at 3:26 PM, dan penoff.com via Mercedes > wrote: > > Working on the 2008 ML550 today, I found something I really like in the way > of detailing products. > > We’ve all dealt with black plastic or vinyl trim and how it ages and gets > chalky due to exposure to the elements and age. I just use the filter in the fridge for drinking water and for cooking. Water for pasta cooking comes out of the tap. The tap water in Vancouver, WA is pretty good, but the filtered water tastes better. When I cook pasta, the last 1/3 of the cooking time is in the sauce, infusing the pasta with the sauce flavor. We’ve had reverse osmosis systems in our homes for years. They provide water to our fridge for ice and dispensed water as well as a tap at the sink for cooking or drinking. [MBZ] OT: anyone using an under-counter water filter?
I've used a pitcher-type filter for a few years for drinking water and making coffee, etc. but thinking of installing an under-counter filter along the lines of this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/A-O-Smith-Clean-Water-Filter-Dual-Stage-Carbon-Block-Under-Sink-Water-Filtration-System/1000562057 This would eliminate the pitchers sitting on the counter and seems more practical. A whole-house filter seems unnecessary, as nearly all the water we use for drinking and cooking comes from the kitchen sink. Anyone using one you are happy with? Single stage? Double? Triple? ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Suggestion: Mow around the flood spots, and leave them for when you can catch them dried out. Make something with an "artistic shape" so the high veggies look "intentional". [MBZ] G05 vs G49 vs G40
I have always run G05 and I know G48 is the replacement for that and is blue. I also know G48 seems to be a lot more expensive than G05. I now see there is a G40 which is pink. This the the latest updated coolant and backward compatible? I also notice it’s about a buck cheaper on Zoro. Since I travel a lot for work if I miss the window of opportunity I have to wait to mow. About 2 weeks ago on a Saturday i was going to mow after I got done working on cars. It was dry. I just got home and basically the house looks abandoned the grass is so high. I planned on mowing this afternoon or tomorrow but appears it must have stormed this week and water is standing again in those spots. [MBZ] Martha Musings
Working on the 2008 ML550 today, I found something I really like in the way of detailing products. We’ve all dealt with black plastic or vinyl trim and how it ages and gets chalky due to exposure to the elements and age. With cars in Florida this is accelerated, as the sun can be pretty brutal here as can the temperatures. I’ve tried all sorts of “back to black” and other such trim treatments, none of which seemed to last long (or at all.) On a recommendation from a detailing buddy I tried something from a company called “GTECHNIQ” called “Permanent Trim Restorer C4”. It’s not cheap, I think the little 15 ml bottle I got cost around $30, but I'm pretty much willing to try almost anything once if I see some good results others have experienced. On the ML550 there is black plastic trim that runs along the rocker panel area above the running boards (if you have them.) It’s a flat black textured material like most black trim, and mine was pretty chalky. They give you some applicators with the product, which is nice. They also recommend the use of gloves, as it does have some nasty solvents in it from the looks of the ingredients. Application was simple, wipe on, let dry, wipe off any excess. The results were instantly apparent, but I don’t put a lot of stock in that because most of the trim restoration product I’ve tried look great when first applied. I’ll watch this stuff carefully over the next few weeks and see how it shapes up. My initial experience has been good. -D ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
