Gas turbine powered generation systems are usually a ground power version of a large passenger jet engine. The most common use is for several of the systems to be located around a nuke plant, or a large coal plant [both of those systems have long lead times to bring them on line and produce output. The Gas turbine engine can be started in minutes and be driving large generators in minutes to catch peak load requirements.. As peak load increases, more Gas Turbine "generator sets" are brought on line, as peak load requirement becomes less, the total output can be managed by taking them off line. Gas Turbine fuel systems are designed and built for a specific fuel type and flow rate, so reconfiguring to handle several different types of fuel is not practical.. Europe is in a hurt box because its supply of natural gas is from Russia, and Russia has shut them off because EU embargoed Russia over Ukraine invasion, etc etc Gas Turbines will run on natural gas if the fuel system is configured for it... or kerosene, if the fuel system is configured for it... or diesel, or even ship bunker fuel.. if the fuel system is configured for it... But such configuration changes are very expensive. A set of fuel nozzles for large gas turbines would run approximately $1,000,000, and Injection Control Pumps another $1,000,000, for each engine. Russia is in a hurt box, because the turbine pump they need to pump natural gas can't be delivered because of the war embargo, and parts to complete it's build are setting in Kansas [last I heard] Supply chain issues.. it's broken down... due to covid, war, etc etc etc... There is an error log that’s generated whenever the hardware fails. I don’t recall how to get it, but if it’s bad enough to cause a lock up or restart you should be prompted about whether you want to send a copy to Apple. I was going over the fuses and module for the ESP/BAS (or ABS, I forget) on the CL500 and found a missing 5A fuse for the ESP module and functions. Popped in a fuse and LO! the error disappeared. YAY ME!!! I have no idea why the fuse was missing. Took it out for a drive, everything works, even got the trans switch to go to S from W it was stuck in. No more limp mode, no more insistent errors!!! ESP was causing limp mode. AC BLOWS ICE COLD!!! Still getting an error on the instrument panel for ABC, was throwing 2 codes for sensing load and something else but it is working ok so I’ll have to see what is unhappy. Depends on the refrigerant I would think. What is the outside temp at which AC stops working? At 116, I'd almost think you'd need a water spray on your condensor, to get some evaporative effect to help remove the heat. Chromebooks are optimized to interact with Google stuff. Docs, Drive, YouTube, etc. If that is most of what you do with a laptop they can be a good, inexpensive option. The bookmarks synced because you signed into the Chromebook with the same account you use at work. And yes, the default is to sync everything. Google wants to know all. Yes, as Floyd points out, gas turbines are the biodiesels of the rotary powerplant world and will burn pretty much anything you can put into them. Basically if it will burn and flow through a pipe it can be burned in a turbine. Might not be optimal, and might need to be tweaked a bit, but it should work. I recall fueling a King Air once with avgas as for some reason we didn't have any JetA. Battery is not draining now so that is encouraging. The trunk lid release switch works intermittently as does the auto-lowering/raising windows when the door is opened and closed. Windows work though. I have not been through all the fuses yet. Hydraulic suspension pumps now and holds, probably needed some exercising to clear out any goobers in the lines and struts, so that is good. Still getting ABC error but that might go away, not clear why it should be there. I might be able to clear it. Has ABS and ESP errors which might be due to a bad module or connection, will take a look at that. Might have another module, in any case they are available on eBay for $35 or so. Fun times on a very cool complicated German car! So this is a good question. I shut off the power to the unit for a coupla days or so (it was getting a bit warm in the house, but one of the other units was keeping it tolerable), restarted it. and all is good. I have new thermistors on the way so I guess they will be in reserve should it fail again. Maybe some sort of intermittent connection issue. I'm wondering if it might have been some water intrusion in the unit somehow, while I was gone Saturday it looked like there was a deluge so maybe the rain or excessive humidity or something got up in there. [MBZ] 02CL500 adventures
Car has only 106kmi. I did a scan on it, nothing too serious popped up except as below with ESP. Running OK but in trans limp mode so will need to get the ESP sorted. Cleaned the car up, it was not too bad at all, a good vacuuming and wash got it looking better. Will need a good paint buffing. Interior pretty clean, leather almost all quite good, one tear in the driver seat, will probably scrub the carpets at some point. Console lid release is broken, will have to sort that out. Plastic does not hold up well. It has the seats that the bottom goes forward and makes a lot longer leg support, very comfortable. The lumbar bags aren't working which I think is a common failure but could be a fuse or something. Not critical but would be nice to have. Found a loose/bad power connection at the power point in the passenger footwell, got that organized so most of the power funkiness has been sorted out but there might still be some niggling issues, more to come.
