It surprise me how random the controls and dashboard are. Half a dozen 
different styles of switches, buttons, and levers. No obvious rhyme or reason 
for where they are located. Just has a haphazard look for such a high end 
vehicle.

better yet drop in this diesel I have here.  Tranny needs servicing or

What the others said as well as understand that it’s a much more complex car 
than a W210 or earlier models. If you’re not equipped (or your Indy shop) to 
work on them it could be expensive relative to repairs, although my experience 
with the W211s suggests that they’re pretty robust like their predecessors.

I like the W211 wagons especially, but I’ve never found a decent one when I’ve 
been in the market.

I've never owned a W210 but as I understand it the biggest concern is rust. 
Front spring brackets on the RWD cars (not an issue with the 4matic) and 
general body rust which rapidly becomes terminal once it starts.

My W211 E500 sedan is definitely a complicated car compared to my W123 and W116 
but it has had only easily resolved small issues, one or two other things that 
don't work quite as they should but are not enough of a bother that I have 
tried to address them yet. I've only owned it less than a year. About 166k on 
it now. The V8 has plenty of power, I get about 20mpg more or less depending 
how I drive it. I do use premium gas. Don't know how the V6 or the wagons 
compare.

You might get some idea of maintenance history on a Carfax report, depending 
where it was serviced and whether the shop reported their work to any shared 
database.

almost to 100,000 miles that means a bunch of neglected maintenance will be 
due. 

I also found another one that has 155K in it and it half the price.  Silver 
over tan.  The price is good, but when I googled the VIN number, I found it was 
sold at Copart almost 2 months ago with 144K on it.  I don’t think the fact 
that it was sold Copart disqualifies it automatically. But, it does make me

[MBZ] needs to have the shifting unit replaced 2001 Mercedes-Benz slk-class SLK 230 Roadster 2D, $1, 000

Cheap SLK if you're into those, not sure what the shifting unit would 
be, the shift module in the console or the conductor plate? Could be a 
fun ride though with some minor fixing
