2024-03-21 Thread dan penoff.com via Mercedes
"He’s dead, Jim."

I suspect there aren’t any in Paragon and they’l have to bring some over from
the Fatherland.

To be honest, if I could see and touch the Dorman part, I would seriously
consider it. Something as basic as a coolant reservoir is pretty tough to muck
up, unless it’s Üro. Paying double that for OE borders on silly.

As much as I advocate for OE parts, there is a limit.

[MBZ] Zimmerman brakes

2024-03-21 Thread Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes
My 2015 ML 250 needed rear brakes to pass MD inspection. FCP Euro advised
that Zimmerman rotors at half the price of OEM were probably a safe bet,
since they are manufactured in Germany. Anybody have experience with this
brand?

Re: [MBZ] O.T. Boy, Don't See These Everyday

2024-03-21 Thread Bob Rentfro via Mercedes
It drove like a Volkswagen.
My friend Dan Simmon’s dad worked for Caterpillar over in Germany. When their
family moved back to the states in 1973, they brought back a brand new red
squareback and a brand new red notchback. That was the second coolest garage
in our neighborhood right behind the Hounschell’s garage of a ‘67 200D and a
‘73 240D.
Dan was turning 16 in 1973 and he needed to learn how to drive a manual. That
summer, whilst his folks were at work, we would take out the notchie and I, as
a 13 punk kid, taught him how to drive a manny.

Overall, I have had good service with Dorman products.
In the daisy chain of chineseium, Dorman has been generally at a higher
quality standard.
Pick one up at the seller's, inspect it, walk it out to the car and do a
point by point comparison as to fitment.. Then decide.
Having it in your hand before you buy it is golden..

I’m going to replace the leaking coolant tank on my ML. The clowns at Autohaus AZ have them, an OEM MB for $188, but they won’t allow me to pick it up, it has to be shipped. $13 and 8-14 days. Dummy boo-boo heads.Several other places have the MB tanks, but shipping everywhere seems to be in the almost two week window and I will need to be able to use this before then. Of course the three stealers in Phoenix have them (from Cali in two days), two places charging $248, one knucklehead charging $368. Charlatans. It’s more a matter of rarity than anything else. About the only way you could
come across one of these in the day was to have a military person bring one
