If I could have been there I might have given it a try. The biggest problem in 
the great northern estate right now is that the water isn't turned on.

I finally ordered a sediment filter which is the last piece needed. The next 
time we're up there I need to install that and get a new pressure switch for 
the pump. I also need to remove the last of the galvanized plumbing...

Of course the system hasn't been tested since we got all new plumbing, there's 
bound to be a few leaks.

apparently the reality was fairly mild.

I'm a little disappointed we hadn't prepped the great northern estate to the 
point we could have rented it. I've heard of folks who rented a house for 
$1000/night. I'd have been happy with half that...

That sounds like Tires Plus, a regional tire store chain around FL and the 
southeast. I’m sure each one can be different, but the one by my house was 
great for years. They even knew about spreader bars for alignments on our cars! 
The guy that ran the one by me was a former Michelin rep, and very good at 
helping you find the right tire for the application rather than worrying about 
selling you the ones they make the most profit off of. They would bust old 
tires off wheels I bought and not charge me.

In general they were very customer-oriented, which was nice. I could send Mrs. 
Dan there with a car and they wouldn’t rip her off.

It’s a neat little midwestern college town. Made famous by the Ball family, the 
folks that bring you Ball canning jars, there were a number of large glass 
plants they ran in the area. One of the reasons they chose the Muncie area is 
the proliferation of natural gas in the area. It was common for there to be 
flares out of the ground if they could be lit in some way, sometimes by 
lightning. Gas City, which is north and west of Muncie, used to light the 
streets with gas because it was so readily available. A bunch of window and 
windshield glass plants are in the area as well, taking advantage of the cheap 
natural gas.

I used to service all of the generators on campus, which was a pretty big 
number for one customer, like 30-40 units. I would typically go up there for a 
week at a time with another tech just to do the maintenance on all of them. It 
was nice in the winter, as they had a central steam plant that heated all the 
buildings on campus, so you could move freely between buildings through the 
steam line tunnels that conected the buildings and never have to go outside.
